Could my work sack or discipline me for being on here? I suppose how would they ever know if I hid the face photos?
Has anyone ever had any experience of being found by work colleagues, family or friends? |

It depends what your job is, who your bosses are and how discreet you are.
If you work in education in any way there is a possibility you could lose your job. It's unlikely but possible.
If you're any uniformed service and post pictures of yourself in that uniform, you're asking for trouble.
Check your contract. Is there a clause about bringing the company, service or profession into disrepute? If so keep photos 100% discreet.
Otherwise you will be ok. It would just be embarrassing if colleagues found out. |

Yes, I could be. I probably wouldn't be, but there is a theoretical risk.
Catch-all clause of bringing the good named the company into disrepute.
Same clause also covers public d*unkenness and "living an immoral life". They're far more likely to be the reason for my dismissal. |

There was a story in the news last month about a primary school headteacher who was sacked for having for having sex with two 17 year old boys he met on a dating app. It was ruled as unfair dismissal and he was awarded £700,000 compensation |

Some companies or organisations may class as being employed and on fab as actions of disrepute as mainstream society doesnt understand fab and the lifestyle and consider it dirty or depraved. As such they could possibly say its gross miss conduct, the arguement then is that it's your private life and not related to your employment providing you dont mention work etc.. |

Some jobs have 'morality clauses' in their contracts, actions that could bring the company into disripute etc
If you had very high profile, public job then it could also be an issue.
Personally, if you're doing your job, and doing it well, I don't see how what you do in private should be a factor, but to a lot it will, especially if you're in a position of power, someone with an axe to grind could use it against you.
If I was still teaching, then I'd be extra wary about putting my face pics on here, who I met. |

As long as your face is obscured you will be ok. There's always the "someone stole my !memory stick" excuse anyway.

I heard a story of a teacher, a woman who had a grudge with him posted a video of him having sex on public media, he lost his job and career because of this, in my opinion, this was wrong.
We all have private lives and what we do shouldnt jeopardise our jobs. |

I received a message from a guy who had attached to the message a photographed his work ID badge with his face, position and the public sector employer clearly stated. The ID badge was in date so clearly current. I immediately messaged him and told him that was not wise given what his job was a what he did. He would definitely be dismissed if he was discovered having done that. Makes you wonder ..... |

I could have been sacked.
Man, I could have been sacked if a parent saw me on a night out and I wasn’t acting ‘accordingly’.
A huge deal was made because we were expected to act professional in every aspect of life. |

I need to be cautious because of my job. I don't think I could be sacked but I'm pretty sure I'd be judged for it and it would undoubtedly be disapproved of.
I have a friend who is responsible for IT at a big company who says to be very careful of going onto sites like this on work computers or devices because the IT staff can view what sites etc are accessed by employees. |

My first thought at that would be, "surely no one is that stupid" & it was fake!
A male friend split with his GF, she created a profile on a dating app, used the exact same type of photo, and sent really vile messages to women.
They obviously reported him, it got him in all sorts of trouble, until the truth finally came out! |

This ... and many companies do. In our company only devices we add can access the company network.
We have guest wifi which is open to all, it is password protected, and we monitor traffic on this to the device.
We also have sniffer software which is actively searching connected devices for a variety of things to protect the company, these include the usual for viruses etc but we also monitor other things e.g. sites used, data transfers etc to help identify if someone is potentially stealing data via picture or file transfers etc ... all fully automated and highly sophisticated.
We have dismissed employees and prosecuted them, and others, for things they did on our guest network. |

Morality clauses are usually rendered defunkt under the human rights act and the various EU and UN conventions. We all have the right to enjoy our sex lives.
An employer can take issue if you identify them on a swingers site... So no wearing uniforms in pics here, for example.
Somebody could theoretically complain that they've seen you here and that they don't want to work with you or be a customer. That's a grey area, i do know of one person who had this happen and the employer asked them to be more discreet in their profile. |

Theoretically, you're employer can track which websites are accessed through the company network and from which devices, so it is possuble that your employer could catch you out on accessing fab even though you are doing so on your own device and most companies have a zero tollerance approach to accessing adult content so I'd advise caution |

My opinion on this - if your public profile is sufficiently anonymised then I don’t see how you could be bringing a company in to disrepute.
I choose to show my face privately to some people - I think this is within my entitlement to a private life. |

Thread has also deviated to people using fab at work. |

"So if I'm incognito on my phone on my works internet they can see I'm on here?? "
Yes. Incognito just prevents cookies, history and content being saved to your device, it doesn't hide the sites you are looking at from a works internet perspective. To do that you'll need a vpn, however a decent company IT policy will prohibit vpn connections being created, unless from specific allowed devices. That's how we ran our network anyway. Normally the employment contract will have an internet usage policy - we used to run reports for Managers on internet use for their staff.
You might not get the sack for having a profile here, but the chances increase considerably, I would say, if you use the companies internet facilities to access it. |

The IT user policy we have to adhere to where I work is such that if I showed my employment on social media that could be construed as gross misconduct, with the exception of LinkedIn. They say that if we posted pictures or statements that could show us in a bad light then it puts the company in a bad light.
For that reason, I don't "follow" the company's facebook page. Funny thing was, a few months ago we all received an email from HR saying there were having a recruitment drive, and for everyone to share the company facebook post to encourage applicants. I replied saying I wouldn't as this contravenes the company IT policy
I am rarely in the office, as most of my work time is on the road. I only access FAB from my own phone and not my work phone, and for reasons already mentioned by others, when in the office I don't use the company guest wi-fi on my phone |

I've worked in education for 20 years, 16 of those while on swingers sites and in the "scene". I take care that my public fab pics are not searchable. I also regularly google-stalk myself to ensure my full name isn't connected with my lifestyle - though i generally don't hide it and I do know a couple of teachers in London who are openly non-monogamous including their schools knowing.
Be careful and sensible. Never use work WiFi to access fab or similar. There will definitely be a policy prohibiting use of work facilities (including devices and WiFi) for anything remotely like this. Be careful with a VPN too. I'm currently permitted to use one on my work pc as the WiFi firewall is blocking sensible sites such as our stationer. That would not usually be permitted. |

Depends what you agreed to when you took the job on. Most companies will outline their dos and donts of social media. Some may deem the ‘lifestyle’ as bringing it potentially bringing the company into disrepute. |

Depends on how your FABing, if you are using company equipment or in company time there could be an issue. But that goes for any kind of texting as well internet, don't think it is exclusive to FABing.
Could be an issue if you were wearing company uniform cos you are representing the company.
Depends on what circumstances you are FABing. |

A few years back a colleague was disciplined (and ultimately dismissed) for inappropriate sexual behaviour. I was a key witness
His defence was his actions were entirely innocent but I was a pervert who's world view is so distorted by spending all my spare time at fetish and swinging clubs I sexualise everything I see. And the other 2 key witnesses were innocents who I had somehow conviced to read more in to his actions than there was but didn't even understand what they had witnessed.
That was a fun few weeks. Outed to HR and my entire line of management. Thankfully they were brilliant though. So now I'm relatively open about what I do. My colleagues know I go to weird clubs but they have no idea about specifics. I'm still discrete on here, and there are no links to my professional life beyond the fact I like most people onviously have a professional and private life |

Ensue your fab photos are not anywhere else online, especially personal websites and social media. That way if anyone reverse image searches your fab pics they wont link to your personal/social media sites and vice versa. |

One further comment on working in education. I've brought up alternative lifestyles and non-monogamy with the top HR bods at the academy chain i work for. They're clear that the private lives of staff are of no interest or concern unless someone feels children are put at risk. |

Yep as stated, everything gets logged on work network and potentially reported.
Also applies to WFH if connected to office.
Also applies to company mobile devices.
Just be careful. I’ve been pulled up twice for FB after I got annoyed with someone being a twunt.
I’d be sacked for this or my Twitter. |

If you are accessing internet sites via your company’s WiFi then the company can see what sites you have viewed and the device used to access them. Some companies have security that blocks areas of the internet they consider to have no commercial interest or are counter to the company’s ethos e.g. porn. Again, if you try to access one of these, the attempt will be logged and your IT security person may ask questions.
If you use a company mobile phone to browse sites, your browsing history is held by the
mobile network. Using ‘private browsing’ on a device only means that the sites you have accessed aren’t saved in your browsing history. |
