Any fans of the little fella from Enniskillen? I've loved his music for over twenty years and lost count of how many times I've seen him live with various groups of musicians over the years. His songwriting is masterly. |

"He wrote "my lovely horse" for the Father Ted programme and for that I will be eternally grateful to him "
He also wrote The Miracle is Mine which was Father Dick Byrne's entry plus all the other music including the theme song which he turned into an incredible song called Songs of Love |

Oh my god yes, forgot the Dick Byrne entry (ooh that sounds quite rude!), the song was bloody amazing!
Loved the band from their very earliest albums. |

Overall, I like him a lot. Although I've found somr of the albums a bit hit & miss.
Victory For The Comic Muse is my favourite album (Lady Of A Certain Age always reminds me of my aunt, somehow)
My favourite track is probably The Certainty Of Chance, and the way it becomes almost Silence Of The Lambs-esque just before the spoken word part |

"The cars in the churchyard are shiny and German,
Completely at odds with the theme of the sermon"
I bloody love that album. He's questioning his faith in everything... |

The early albums are just amazing. But some of his later albums are lovely too. Live he's absolutely stunning. Years ago my ex husband took me to the Royal Court in Liverpool and we saw him do a two hour set with a 16 piece mini orchestra. I once saw him do a cover of Raspberry Beret that just blew my mind. Love the little dude like a brother |

And all through communion
I stare at the people
Squeezing themselves through
The eye of the needle.

"Anyone know the Duckworth Lewis Method album he made? "
Yes, I have it. Its very good, right up there with the rest of his albums.
Oh, I was at the Royal Court that night too. I may not have had blonde hair then though |

Beautiful isn't it.
Also that track that is, on the face of it, a list of lost property, but is actually just about loss and heartache.
Makes mental note to dig album out tomorrow...* |
