Inspired from a post I read on another thread, what 3 songs would you have playing at your funeral?
1. Going in
2. Middle
3. Going out
My children know I want to be cremated and have a bit of a weird sense of humour sometimes. I want; Amarillo, YMCA and My Way...... and no crying!!!
What are your choices? X |

Going in - my mother can chose that one for me
Middle - Abide with me - Emile Sande
Going out - My girl friends have specific instructions to crack open a bottle of Veuve Clicquot whilst they rattle out ‘ Rule Britannia’ |

I've never thought of this before
I saw something on another forum once though, the poster attended a party that a dying man had organised, he had family all over the place so this was his last chance to see all of his family and friends all together before he passed away. The DJ unthinkingly played Another One Bites The Dust. Apparently he (the DJ) was pretty mortified but the dying man thought it was hilarious! |

I don't want people to wear black.
Going in: "I'll Follow the Sun" (but derinitely not the "newspaper" ha ha) by The Beatles
Middle: "Take it With Me" by Tom Waits
Going Out: "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen
Then on to a monumental party!
My ashes are to be scattered at Worthy Farm. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"I've got a huge playlist but...
Tracy Chapman - Unsung Psalm
John Rutter - Agnus Dei
Pink Floyd - Time
now I might succumb to a piece of Rutter "
I want the Allegri Miserere too but I can't fit it in on this tight list.

"Just breathe Pearl jam.
Not that I want a funeral I want to go to a body farm for forensic /medical research. "
This was one I was tossing up between. I find it a heartbreaker tho and I'm not sure I want to upset people even if the words are poignant.

One last breath - Creed
Just Breathe - Pearl Jam
Forever Autumn - Justin Hayward
These would be on my "serious" playlist.
These songs mean the world to me and hit me in the feels.
I can't choose between these and my other list, so I'll have these and my other list at the fuck off fancy dress party of a wake.

New World Symphony - Dvorak
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Christy Moore version
I’ll See You In My Dreams - Joe Brown on his ukulele
But it could change if you asked me again tomorrow, there’s so much great music out there. |

Creedance clearwater revival, have you ever seen the rain?
Dropkick Murphys, I'm shipping up to Boston
Travelling Wilburys, end of the line
Not in any particular order just when the service needs a bit of craic and lightning up.

Going in; Fuck Off - Eminem/Kid Rock
During;I want to be in a coffin rolling towards a big furnace at the end while Mike Olfield's "In Dulce Jubilo plays. When I go into the fire itself I want it to coincide with that jolly guitar solo kicking in.
After; Opus 3 - Fine Day

"My mums funeral on Friday.
Wish I hadn't read this thread.... "
What have you chosen for her ?
At my husband's funeral I had the whole of Shine on you crazy diamond as we went in. Corinne Bailey Rae Que Sera in the middle and Oasis Stop crying your heart out at the end. For mine I want Lily Allen Somewhere only we go, the Oasis track and King Afrika Bomba as an uplifting finish. |

I only want two songs - the first is the most beautiful and poignant song ever written for a funeral but so unknown. It will break your hearts with its beauty:
Shades of Grey by The Monkees

Finish with Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed obviously x
