Depends on what it is and whether it's the service or the product.

I desperately try not to be rude to those who are doing their best to do their job.

"If you receive service that you feel is less than adequate, do you complain ?"

Absolutely. I've been in service jobs long enough to know when someone is busy, or simply too bored to do what they are supposed to do (or simply doesn't know what they're talking about). I also tip very well when given good service (doesn't have to be outstanding) and make a point of telling management when any service is superb, whatever the job.

Just don't eat it if it's been returned after major complaints about a person...

In a back street not give a fuck established perhaps, but in a chain where there are cameras in the kitchens etc you really have no fears.

If you complain respectfully you'll have no worries whatsoever and staff will bend over backwards to get it right.

Yes but I try and remember what it was like to be working for minimum wage, dealing with shitty customers and abysmal management.

Depends on what it is. I had my hotel room refunded when there was no heating in the depths of winter. Wouldn't complain about a crap shag, I just wouldn't go back.

"Yes, the customer is always right "

As a customer, are they bollocks. 95% of the time the customer wouldn't have a clue about most things. They just feel entitled and looking to complain.

I say this as a customer.

You'd hope! Absolutely about the respectful bit.

But believe me, cameras don't reach everywhere.

"If you receive service that you feel is less than adequate, do you complain ?"

Yes but nicely, I cringe when people complain loudly and rudely

No need to belittle the staff, a quiet word to the manager will suffice.

And when I do complain, I don't take it out on the person, I focus on the issue. There's no point being rude to someone who's just following a process they have to or are sometimes working in less than ideal circumstances for reasons completely outside their control.

I'm a waitress, I spend an awful lot of time in and out of the kitchen.

Anyone caught doing anything other than treating peoples food with the greatest of respect would be looking for a new job within minutes.

Scaremongering people into not speaking up at the time makes our jobs far harder, people can leave unhappy because someone has told them not to complain in case their food gets messed with.

Those of you who do have an issue with your food whilst dining out.

Be polite, be respectful and you'll find staff more than happy to help and make your visit an enjoyable one even with a hiccup.

A lot i think..but about things which need fixing..not people necessary.. like my friend in the wheelchair not being able to access her usual optician cause they moved contact lense department upstairs.. no lift.

A self checkout machine in a cafe where my allergic friend couldnt customise her brekkie because she is coeliac. Stuff like that.

And my kids school management must hate me. As i like pointing out things which need improvement

Seriously? What kind of place was it?! I'm in no high end restaurant but our staff absolutely wouldn't pull stunts like messing with someone's food.

Be sacked on the spot at my place for that.

Our chefs can be arseholes coz they're hot, tired and not moved from one spot for the last 6 hours but one thing they do have is pride in what they send out and acknowledgement when they fuck up.

Yes.

One thing I do find is most places can't cook a steak properly to save their life.

Nearly always overdone and I always send back if it's not right.
