This weekend we will erect the xmas tree, as we are in the forest and are quite crafty we make a lot of decorations with natural wood slices and foliage etc

Do you have tree themes or do you just throw the decorations on anyhow?

.

No colour theme but we use decorations given as presents. We always try and buy one nice new one if we are going somewhere Christmassey as well. It's a collection of memories and things dear to us I guess.

They are mostly personalised.. or handmade. I made a nice nativity scene using spices another year.. and like adding one more each year.. little baby Jesus made of hazelnut in a walnut crib. Things like that..

This year I am attempting to make nativity scene of pasta shapes sprayed with gold.. Italian style apparently.

What do you make?

Sounds lovely. Nooo I spend ages doing it. I have panic attacks when the kids try and help with the main tree . I got them a tree each for their rooms to decorate so it’s much better now

I can just about manage 1 tree. I like your enthusiasm. If i didn't have grandkids I probably wouldn't bother with a tree, I'd just have lights.

That's a good idea and very creative

We make reindeer and snowman, pine cone flowers, mini wreaths etc a hot glue gun and a drill is all it takes and all materials are from the forest

My tree is the most gaudy creation ever! All colours, mismatched baubles stuff on there the kids made when they were small and I love it.

I just cannot get my head around why people want a colour theme for their tree. My friend wants a blue themed one this year

Oh that's so lovely! I'd love to make my own and be more crafty at Christmas. It's a nice touch to add!

I'll be going rustic and white this year with warm white lights. I might change my mind when I grab the box of decorations but I'll see. I try to change my Christmas theme a little each year. I think last Christmas it was green and red and very traditional.

I'm tempted to get a little tree for my daughters room and do her a bright rainbow tree!

It's hard work deciding when you've got so much to choose from

I went to a lovely garden centre on Friday and it was absolutely mesmerising. I think I got some inspiration from that. In the January sales earlier this year I bought loads of white decorations that were reduced down to 50p from about £5.00 each so they need to be put to use this year

I can't say I've seen a hot wheel tree before but it does sound like it would bring happiness to a small child! I bloody love Christmas! I think we need a Christmas tree thread

I have every Christmas decoration my children have ever made (my children are now 21 to 29yrs old!) My eldest daughter went to koln and had one made as a gift for her younger sisters 18th... and a selection of other 'special' ones that mean something to us. Aww... feeling all warm and fuzzy now! I'm putting my trimmings up on Sunday now! Nice post OP.

The front of the house is all gold lights. The inside/tree is rainbow

We pick a new DEC each year. Most have memories attached.
