Just a question I have been curious about for a while now...
If (for example) you are a male to female trans and you only like women? do you consider yourself lesbian or straight? and why?
I only ask because I (fem) have seen lots of sites with TV/TG where they say they are straight but are into guys but then others say straight but are into only girls
so what's your point of view on this ? |

It's all to do with how the person identifies with their gender.
I'm a TV. I'm under no illusion that i'm anything but a guy who likes to dress up in female attire and have sex with people of either gender. However, when i'm dressed my mannerisms change (so i'm told) and i identify with my 'femme' name.
People who are truly transgender indentify with the gender that they truly are (regardless of their genitalia) so a mtf trans person who likes men will identify as 'straight' whilst a similar who likes women would identify as 'gay'.
Sexual identity and sexual preferences are two seperate issues and can be very complex, it's not as easy as saying "you were born male so you must be X/Y or Z"

Not trans but have friends who are and generally the label applies to the gender you are perceived as...this gets confusing as to terminology when u lump together transsexual (who are a certain gender regardless of the one assigned at birth ) and transvestites who are one gender but enjoy expressing another in dress, actions and so forth.
So a male to female transsexual is female...lesbian means likes women, straight means likes men, regardless of the point of their transition they are in.
Transvestites are not seeking to change gender so a male transvestite is straight if he likes women and gay if he likes men.
Bi remains the same
Then there are androgynous...and concepts such as pan sexual and asexual.
Hope this helps and apologies for the generalizations, which are always a problem in this area.

i'm gonna be really dumb now, but this is something that ive wondered for a while, i class myself as straight (not really a fan of other mens willys tbh) but if i had sex with a trans-sexual, would that make me bi, or would that depend on how far through the 'change' they are? |
