Redditch

When I got made redundant (for the second time ) from a well-known high street bike and car parts retailer almost 2 years ago, I had done money invested in their sharesave scheme. I had the choice of the shares or my money back.

A quick back of a fag packet calculation revealed an easy two to three hundred pounds' profit for no effort, so for the first time ever I took the shares.

They were trading around the £3.50 mark at that point.

By the tone I got the certificate a fortnight later they'd dropped to £2.50, and this morning they're down to £1.65

Two questions: 1, how much longer until they go under, and 2 anyone else here a financial wizard like me?

In answer to question 1 I hope I'm wrong but could be dion.

to question 2 you aren't alone. We put our house up for sale in 1988 at a price that meant we'd made a good return on our investment. Almost the next day the housing market crashed and we took over a year to sell at a much reduced price. Prior to that when interest rates were very high we took out a fixed rate mortgage a 10% only to see rates nose dive in the following months.

I too am a financial wizard, I invested in crypto, just before the bubble burst

Nice to see I'm not alone....

And although I only seem to deal on small amounts overall (but still significant to me) today's just got even better with a phone call telling me a job scheduled for Friday evening, worth £100, has been cancelled

Apparently money doesn't buy happiness. I don't know who originally said that but I'd like to meet them and tell them they're wrong
