It's how shit gets done! Negative "praise" will usually slow a worker down and reduce productivity, it should only occur as disciplinary action and then it's too late.... |

Work with a guy who thinks putting fear into his staff is the way to go. Just see his staff cry and be upset all the time, doesn't make them productive. Took great pleasure the other week standing up to him, cause he's a bully nothing more nothing less. |

My boss is ok, she will praise you through other people though. I think if people are doing well, tell them. I manage a team of 7 and I praise them consistently but also look at the bigger picture if their performance lowers, and look for reasons for that
My son works for a gaming company, his boss is very well distinguished and a veteran in the gaming industry, my boy says despite being the CEO he is around the office most days and knows everyone by name and their role, a super nice guy.
He also is very hands on, insists on leading his own team of scripters including my boy, the guy refers to them as "dream team" my boy was told he had impressed this guy with serious talent.
To me that is what a manager should be, a manager, a leader a mentor
