I’m a great fan of gorilla glue. l recently reattached the the balls to my 12inch suction which had undergone some very strange angles due to my dicky leg at the time. However I now have two pairs of testicles. No one said I should remove the shaft from
My arse prior to sticking |

"I made a skirt (with a lot of help lol) several years ago and I'm trying to get myself back into it. "
I embroidered my cut off denim jacket with band names as a teenager and have always seen since. I’m not good with a machine though as I don’t use it enough. |

I'm also a big fan of DIY costumes. I have no technical ability with sewing, but I'm imaginative. My Halloween costume this year was home decor from Wilko, some ribbon from Abakhan, and a hat from Primark (plus stuff I already own). |

I don't have a machine, but if I did I might play with it. I had a lot of handmade clothes as a kid and I loved them. |

You could probably pick up a decent secondhand machine quite cheaply |

I taught myself knitting a couple of years ago to help combat my nervousness before flying, and I take a lot of business flights. I get a lot of curious stares in the airport lounges - I guess it's not every day that people see a 6 foot big-built black guy with tribal tattoos in a business suit knitting a lilac and green scarf |

I might. There are things I want that either don't exist (stupid fashion) or cost more than I want to pay. Obviously hand made is often more expensive, but not always. |

"Never
Shameful!
Seems like you can't really talk that much, mister
I've been sewing buttons on since primary school. "
Can you do mine? I must have loads of buttonless things . Never been much of a domestic goddess to be honest |

I can't do fiddly needlework any more because of my hands, but I've sewn on lots of buttons, and thousands of sequins on costumes.
I don't own many button up clothes now. |

"Learned this a couple of weeks ago and sewed my first button back on from one of my favourite shirts. Well and truly chuffed "
Yes, I've just reattatched a coat button, well done me, let's see how long it stays on for! |

I used to make my own cosplay costumes and really enjoyed it. I don't really have the time (well don't make the time) for sewing nowadays but it's something that relaxed me and I was good at. My great grandmother taught me at an early age because I "won't be a good wife if you can't mend your husband's shirts and darn his socks". |

"When was the last time you sewed a button on?
Is it a dying art?
Or are you an advocate of make do and mend?"
I enjoy sewing..i decorate cosrsets and bling them up so each one is unique...more interesting than sewing on buttons |

I wish I had the skills and confidence to do that. |

I've done it from an early age. I'm not as adept at making clothes as I once was as I don't really do it any more, but i'm quite happy to alter curtains or make something simple like a cushion cover. I also make/decorate a lot of my own dance costumes. |

Haven't sewn a button on in a while but am capable of doing that and other simple "running repairs". Daughter brings me her items that need some simple remedial work.
As part of my job I do remedial work on carpets: replacing missing tufts, removing contamination, etc.... |

If you sew on a button too tight, it can ruin the line of your shirt/blouse etc. To remedy this, put a small piece of corrugated cardboard between the button and the material and sew through it. It tears out easily after sewing and leaves your button firmly anchored, but with enough play in it so as not to disrupt the smooth line of your clothes. |

I must try that. I've always held a fat needle (bobkin) between the holes then pulled it out after, before doing some frapping turns to make the button stand off the fabric rather than flop about.
Your method sounds much easier. |

You may not have the skills set, but you do have the ability in there somewhere.
I'm really lucky in my partner sews anyway, but used to work in the knicker factory on piece work. She taught me.
I have been on some one day courses at the local sewing shop but they are too darned expensive....

I'm a seastress, so spend my days stitching this, sewing that. My main thing is taking old clothes / baby clothes and dearly departed clothes and turning them into memory bears/ blankets/ cushions ect. I also turn wedding dresses into Christning gowns. So real upcycling.
Just made my fella a works waistcoat, with matching pants company logo on too. I also knit, sew and crochet. My lastest thing is spinning fleece, to make my own yarn for knitting.
So all very old crafts! I've been sewing and knitting sinse I was a child. Love it. |

Being vertically challenged, I have a sewing machine because I normally have to shorten every mortal piece of damn clothing, even sleeve lengths. Who do they model arm lengths on these days ? They are nearly always dangling down to my knees these days |

I am very impressed... Perhaps shouldn't say this, but my wife is a kindred spirit on all things above except the spinning. Though we do have a wheel, and the fleece, we have never introduced them to each other....
I rather fancy welt felting panels and stitching them together to make a shabby waistcoat... |

I sewed two buttons on yesterday.
I also did some other minor repairs.
I enjoy sewing, and the challenge of tricky repairs. Prefer to do it in good daylight, though.. |

I do buttons, hems and ripped seams all the time, no problem. What I hate doing is replacing zips, fiddly irritating job!
Am currently considering whether I like a shirt enough to turn the collar or just bin it. |
