London

I have done a survey on the London tube and discovered these days 90% of women now wear trousers or jeans. I think in 5 to 10 years time dresses will be a thing of the past and only worn by tvs

Nah dresses are more prominent up in the midlands. Love to see a woman in a dress or gym leggings.

Trousers or Jeans are more practical for everyday life and on tube stops pervs trying to look up their dresses and skirts.

Hiding in the shadows

I rarely wear trousers, I only own 3 pairs, and 2 of those are mens trousers I wear for work

Finding ladies with long enough legs is a nightmare!

Caroline wears trousers for work in the winter, but otherwise it's dresses or skirts all the time.

I mostly wear skirts and dresses. The OP has a point, as many people comment that I generally dress femininity.

Isn't life grand that we get to choose to dress how we like?

I've got a posh dress on today.

I love a dress.

I'd say I wear dressesmore often than trousers.

La la land

Dresses and skirts are my preference day to day. Jeans only when I'm with the kids and don't want to flash my arse to the general public

Well I only own one pair of trousers and no jeans. I live in dresses and skirts or leggings and a long top.

What she said. And it’s even harder if you’re tall and fat!

That said, i live in jeans, i just wear them up by my knees with a double muffin top

I would be interested in the results of extending your survey to asking the women in trousers what their opinion was on men wearing a dress or a skirt.

Even in summer time there is a preponderance of trousers worn by women . Perhaps it is a London thing?

I think that is right . It looks more feminine and I would hate to see them disappear completely. The tube is drab enough.

I wear dresses for myself, not for those who imagine that I'm there foe their viewing pleasure.

I frequently tell an old guy in the gym "I'm not here for your viewing pleasure"

He pipes down for a couple of weeks!

OK so...

I am a little unsure that I want to go off on a feminist tirade here but...

OP, you are a male and yes you may like the female form in a dress etc. It is up to said female what she wears and what she feels comfortable in.

Fashions change. It is currently cold and wet. I don't see many guys going out and about in shorts.

There is currently a push to change rules that state that women have to wear certain clothing and particular footwear for working in offices. At this time you raise this. It seems not quite right.

Many women love wearing dresses. I for one do. I feel fabulous in them. But I do so when I choose. Certainly not in winter, unless it is for a party and drink is numbing the cold

Sorry for the rant before people rant back at me. I know there will be so I apologise now and appreciate your opinions

Preach. The last thing I'm considering, well maybe the second last before caring what the Queen might think, is my entertainment value for men on public transport.

Have you beamed in from the 1920s? I’ve seen no evidence that dresses are on the way out, apart from maybe office wear.
