Why do people say strange things when viewing a corpse?
They say things like oh aye he looks himself or its just him lying there alright.
Who do they expect him to look like and of course its going to be him lying there unless the undertaker brought the wrong body.
Any other strange comments? |

In fairness OP it's an original thread in here!
Cant say I've noticed. People have been traumatised when I've been there too, so I'm not sure I've noticed coherent comments. |

I suppose it is what people say when they are never sure what to expect.
I have only ever been shocked once, and that was how old my best friend looked having passed away at 21.

I dont mean people who are grieving or close relatives saying things while they are tramatised and in a bad way.

Years ago I saw a body being brought out of a holiday chalet on a stretcher. The guy at the head end lost his grip and his charge bounced off the step. One of my fellow gawkers commented 'ooh bet that hurt, I'd have died if it was me'.

I remember going to see my dad and I held his hand and then I cried and said it really doesn't look like him or seem like he's my dad at all. I look back now and think well of course it didn't seem like my dad because it was just his body and he's gone
I think when you're grieving and broken and sitting in a room with a dead body your mind brings out all kinds of weird shit |

I don't think many people find themselves in the situation too often so thinking of strange comments made is a weird question to ask. I just cried and ran out of the parlour when I viewed my father. |

It has been 3 years to the day almost since I lost my Mum.
I had such a fixation on her needing her glasses, I took them down and popped them on her face.
Then got upset the day of the funeral and the undertaker handed them to me. Got panicky because I felt she needed them.
Now her glasses sit in my glovebox, always was a pain in the arse in the passenger seat.

My dad just looked like he was asleep, I sat with him for a while after he died but once his skin started to go blotchy behind his ears I decided I didn't want to remember him like that so left the room and never went back in until the funeral director took him away. |

My mum looked terrible when she died (!), but mostly because she didn't have her teeth in, she wouldn't have been happy about that but it's not like you can just pop them in is it?
Imagine what that would have looked like |

Plus speaking from experience and being in the army (ex army)I will no longer go into see anyone laid out, remember the good times and what they always looked like, each to their own but this is strange for a

I agree strange questions always get asked here but we think for a swinging site it's a bit crazy,,cuz some people are actually into sex with dead people and I'd hate to think someone is getting off on this post |

But if that is what they are into then they will find that niche somewhere and it won't be from a forum post that is for sure.
I like to see an eclectic mix of threads tbh, it breaks up the sycophantic hot or nots type affairs that get posted each day.
I have seen threads posted about all manner of subjects, I am sure most thread subject matter will have an Uncle Fusty finding a way to knock himself into oblivion over it. |

I went to see my mum with am old friend of hers....( My way of dealing with grief is to laugh and joke) as we walked into the room where her coffin is he says. Hi nave how you doing? I'm sat in corner crying but had to. (In mums style) "I'm dead John but OK " had the room in stitches..
Another time was seeing my late husband In coffin with his hair nothing like he had it... So I'm leaning over the coffin putting his hair correct. Really weird feeling doing it on a corpse.. K |

I worked in a funeral home (the female of this couple) for four years arranging funerals...you never know what to say. I found myself thinking how can someone look at peace...until it was exactly what feel out of my mouth, when I saw my grandad once hed passed away. I think some dont know what to expect, and many people wont have seen many deceased...so dont know what to expect so dont know what to say. Anything that fills that silence sometimes
This was one thread that actually quite intrigued me...well done OP...this kept me reading far longer than most feeds on here! X |

This will sound strange but bear with me .
My Mum was in palliative care in a hospice and we knew she didnt have long .
For the week before her death she looked like her body could take no more , her veins were blue and every breath she took appeared such an effort.
When I got the call to say she had passed and went straight up there, the first thing I said ," she finally looks peaceful " . In hindsight I shouldnt have said that, but she was no longer in pain and suffering .
And to an extent , i accepted it more . |

When I’ve seen bodies they do look different, either because they stitch up the mouth and eyes so their facial expression is totally different, but that’s just my experience |
