We recently had to spend couple of months with the wife’s mum she has two wall units full of 73 random mugs think this is little excessive for one old lady lol

The Mrs literally has a mug fetish*.

Every time we go to Disney, or wherever there’s a cute looking character mug - she has to have one. I must have thrown out about 50 of them in the 10 years we’ve been together, and all it does is encourage her to buy more!

Get rid of them, before (like ours) they start invading other cupboards and then one day, when trying to put the food shopping away you’ll find that you have nowhere to store the food - but two cupboards full of sparkly mugs!

*it’s probably not an actual fetish. More like an obsession.

Why don’t you take them into a charity shop then explain to the children it might be a Christmas present for a mummy whose children can’t afford to spend much (depending on the age of your children)

Being the complete saddo that I am, I have several mugs of assorted colours and sizes for myself but guests are always given one of the matching mugs from my posh mug tree. They are the ones without staining on the inside because I sterident them once a month even though they may not have been used.

I've been wearing a regular path to my local chazza shops over the last few weeks with my ongoing house moving declutter.

Some of the mugs are proper shonky tho, with bits of diamante that have fallen off etc etc.

I might have to use one for pens on my desk, the rest might take an accidental tumble

Suggest a stall on the next school fete that is to supply a filled mug or twenty. It's how I would get rid of all mine guilt free.

I've got a half pint glass from every year of Derby beer festival. Most of them are boxed up and haven't seen the light of day for several years though
