I only exaggerated by an inch...ok, maybe two. Or three. It won't happen again |

" Depends what it is, and if they raised it of their own volition and outlined why? "
For me it doesn't really....the first small excuse means I am dealing with someone who does not believe in the truth......or, for that matter, my ability to perceive it. |

Hmmm. One I get all the time is guys clocking their ages. I am NEVER buying a used car from anyone here. But I never mind that cos it's understandable, a confidence thing etc. Telling deliberate lies about other things... I'd just think why? And then I think yeah it would put me off. |

"I think being honest is about respect as well. You can't respect someone who is not being honest."
No, and you cannot BE respected by someone who is not being honest with you.
Do other people just ignore it, or don't they care? |

"What about, age, name, location?
Oh anything really, it's the thinnest end of a wedge, doesn't matter how thin."
Ah OK.
I get really pissed off when people lie about their age by more than the couple of months it's sensible to disguise dare of birth. If they tell me one name in messages then half way through the social tell me "oh my name isn't Aloysous its Harold" I think why didn't you just say that when I called you Aloysous when we met? Location is understandable.
Having been married to an habitual liar I have a low tolerance for deception but am able to understand certain lies. |

In the fab world I seem to have become a right gullible gary and fall into lie traps all the time
On the other hand sometimes it is right to give someone the benefit of the doubt and another chance |

"It depends if its a lie or a bend of the truth & what it is. "
Even just a tiny little excuse does it for me. I'm talking more dating site than fab I guess, higher expectations there, tougher criteria. |

I met a guy who was actually 27 but had 30 on his profile because he “just wanted to try out being 30”
I don’t get it?!
He said I could pretend to be 25, but why would I?
It’s the inflation of the value of youth that puts the pressure on everyone else to be dishonest. |

That's hilarious. I should have qualified I don't mind as long as their real age isn't outside my filter range. If it then that's that. You're toast. |

I agree.
I will also allow an inch in accuracy on height
My profile is entirely honest. If my age puts someone off, they were clearly not for me anyway. |

I can understand why they do it on here, though I would expect them to be straight with me from the outset. Mind you, I have simply not replied to people who are obviously lying about their age. |

Yes, I'm fine - it's just so rare I find someone who I feel has real relationship potential it's very sad when they throw it away with something totally ephemeral, without even realising it. |

Truly wish I'd spot the first lie. Or the second, third, fourth or fifth one..... I often only see it when they've wrapped themselves up in so many lies that they trip themselves up with it.
They're either really good liars or I'm just a trusting gullible fucktard who refuses to see the bad in anyone until I'm burnt beyond measure.

Identity protectors I don't mind. (Name, location)
Other stuff yes, I get the gut sink.
When they tell me the truth of their own accord I still feel sense of disappointment but then I appreciate they trust me enough with it
If it's a truth I find out on my own without them telling me then I'm pretty much done.

No because I think there's a spectrum of lies; the little white ones that aren't so much lies as omissions or lacking clarity to the full blown fantasist sorts. There are some that will, yes. I ask people if they've done x, y and z and if they still lie at the point it's very bleedin' irksome. |

The first lie does put me off but by the time I realise they’ve lied there’s probably already been a whole load more that I haven’t cottoned on to yet. That’s the problem for me, once I know they’ve lied I can’t help thinking what else are they lying about that I don’t know, and it applies to either gender. |
