So I’m laying here and the house is quiet and all I can hear is scurrying overhead! Sounds like they are having a great time up there in my loft the furry little fookers!

I’m absolutely terrified to investigate and my moggy Pablo is useless he’d probably run a mile if he spotted a mouse.

Anyone else had issues with little house guests?

I used to have a wee one that visited when it got cold, only ever seemed to be one and no damage done, I may have left the odd bit or crust for it

I had them 2 years ago only 2 of them I think, nothing last year but I can hear scurrying when I’m in bed and house is quiet so I know they are back. I will buy some poison.

Try and find the holes and fill them up. Normally a few of them if you spot one.

I had one which used to squeeze in through a damaged air brick in the kitchen. We would find the bin liner in tatters where the little devil had climbed in and out of the bin!

When we came home from holiday and I put a fresh bin liner in the bin, the poor thing was dead at the bottom. He hadn't been able to climb out without the bag

Need to deal with the live one or two in the attic ... before they start multiplying

Pest-stop-sure-set plastic traps - screwfix or toolstation £5 for 2.

Set them with peanut butter - in the attic - during the day (before evening)

Check next morning - or you may even hear the traps going off

I don't like or agree with poison because if the poison isn't an instant kill (often it's not) the mouse can leave & a cat can end up eating it & be poisoned.

I had mice years ago & 2 cats, figured out they were under the kitchen cupboards so took the lower panels off so the cats could get to them & lowered their food Few weeks later & god knows how many mice problems solved.

I'd put the cat in the attic with water, litter tray & a little food every day. he'll get hungry & hunt.

Nature's way is the best way.

This happened in my parents house you don't need to kill them. You can get a thing you plug in the wall that's makes a noise where it deters them.

You can also get a trap which doesn't kill them and then you can release them into the wild you have to be a heartless bastard to kill them

Friends of mine ran a B&B in Northern Vermont in the USA till a year ago.

Their issues over there weren't with mice. Instead, it was raccoons who'd be able to tip the rubbish bins over to get to waste food.

Then the skunks would visit, but would spray the area with their foul stench territory spray.

In heavy snowfall times, grizzly bears would venture down, and knock over the Industrial waste Bins. At times, if they could smell cooking odours from the Kitchens, they'd try to smash their way through the rear doors of the property.

Worse still, was when a pack of wolves were disturbed one morning rooting through the upended bins but refused to leave, instead waiting at each exit door around the place. My friends had to call the authorities who sent Wildlife Rangers immediately to disperse the pack.

Living in the country you get it a lot, buy off amazon a carton of rat poison, it comes in a tub and there are packs of poison, sprinkle this up in your loft a couple of days later they will be gone, After this you need to check how they got in to ensure you keep them away. Note the poison will kill the whole nest of them!!

But can kill pets to so keep it in a safe place!!

"It's when you find success in the morning and have to get the fucker out with a stuff tail....."

Mice are easy to get rid of from traps if dead - it's the crafty ones who are trapped but deffo alive and jumping around trying to escape! Yep I have had that before!

"Rats and mice dont bother me i can live with them

Spiders aaarrrggghhh no they scare me

I had a 7 inch wolf spider in my boots this morning. You have to shake your shoes out where I live, things move in quickly.

I hope your mouse issue gets resolved.

You need to get rid of them before they start breeding and multiplying.

1 x male and 1 x female and you have a big problem.

When she sees them spiders she won't be, no. They honestly do catch and eat mice. They're just enormous but not dangerous to us.

I dont know the heart attack most people get if that things coming for you could be a teensy bit lethal!

(wolf spiders are just disgusting. At least tarantulas have style.)

My mom had them plug ins, they didn't work when she had a problem. Only blocking up the holes and using humane traps worked.

The goliath is the biggest on earth in terms of body mass. For the longest legs see the huntsman spider, they can be a bit lairy. But if you want real nasty then camel spiders are hard to beat. They actually consume living tissue and you can hear them coming. An ex squaddie I knew who served in Iraq used to shoot at them, he said he'd take an irate CO over a camel spider any day.

We'd have camel spider versus scorpion battles. King Kong Krakatoa won 14 in a row until he lost to a a fat scorpion named Ronald.

Huntsman are huge. We have a smaller form of them here but go further south and they get aggressively larger.

Nope. Why not get a cat? Been mouse free for years since I got him. Well more accurately live mouse free, as he likes to bring in the evidence that he's doing his job occasionally.

I’ve got a cat but funny thing is he can’t go in my loft where they are! They aren’t roaming around my house Willi nilli. He often leaves me a hunt find by my front door.
