Do you feel compelled and responsible to try and answer every relevant post? Do you worry people will think you're just bumping your own thread?

Stressful isn't it?

It's good housekeeping to respond if someone has made the effort to answer a question or give an opinion

No

No - sometimes I literally do bump my own post. No shame here.

No

If it’s a conversational post where I’m asking others opinions or thoughts then yes I’ll try to respond to every response.

Nah - just let the thread evolve organically. I don’t feel bad answering some and not others.

I'm going to do a collective 'thanks for all the replies' and get on with my day.

If anybody replies while I'm not online; I'm really sorry that I can't be here but thank you for your efforts.

I don't worry about people thinking I'm trying to bump my own thread. If I'm asking a question and people are responding I like answering their posts. Sometimes I have further questions, others I want to acknowledge posters because their opinion is appreciated.

I think it depends on the thread, sometimes yes, sometimes no. Responding to every post isn't always necessary.

I try to answer or at least acknowledge everyone who responds if I start a thread.

People start threads for varying reasons and who they respond to reflects the reasons usually.

It’s your thread OP

Don’t fall into the trap of trying to steer it where you want it to go.

Other than that just enjoy yourself

I posted my first thread in a long time last night.

Only one reply

This why I barely start threads. If it is dying a death anyway why humiliate it more

When they get some momentum I leave them be. I do try to reply to everyone because it includes and encourages the newbies and less confident forumites and lurkers and often sparks a lounge type discussion. Yasmeen is always bumping threads of mine when they've already gone past 100 but not reached 175 and if that's the case I prefer to let the fire die off naturally.... ....there's always another ten waiting in my mind....

I see my threads like starting a conversation in a pub. If I answer every single person who replies it feels really weird.
