A hair removal thread this week turned into a thread about IPL hair removal.

My friend just told me that she got a smoothskin muse in the black Friday sale from currentbody.com

I can vouch for it being worth the cash.

"How much? "

£400 reduced to £270 I think.

I looked at it in terms of my annual waxing spend which was about £400.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I don't think they work well with dark skin or I'd get one for my chin.

It works best on darker skin tones

It works best on pale skin and dark hair. The bigger the contrast the quicker the results.

I was told it could damage dark skin. The treatment targets the pigment in the hair and can't recognise the difference between the hair and the skin. My hair is very dark so it should be able to read some difference but I wouldn't risk damaging my skin.

I'm talking about proper laser treatment which can be very effective on skin types 4 to 6 (Fitzpatrick scale) using different wavelengths

You may be confused with the much inferior IPL system of hair removal?

I thought the thread was about buying an IPL home appliance.

It was. It might be worth you going to a specialist laser IPL place and asking for advice on your skin tone. My friend had it done and she has dark skin. I think it depends how dark it is and how powerful the blast is x

That would require me to do something and spend quite a lot of money. When I was better off than I am now I did have laser treatment and it worked. Then I went into instant menopause and that was stronger than the lasers.
