I used to have an app which was good.... Lost it when I changed phone though as was no longer available on Google play
I just use chemical help now when it gets bad in the form of sleeping tablets |

Not good of you're driving on the roads at all, chances of having micro sleeps and a serious accident are much higher.
Go to the docs and they will likely prescribe you Zopiclone, use it sparingly as it loses effectiveness if you use it every night, but it will knock you out for the night which your body and brain will thank you for if you're having a bad time with insomnia. |

Might be in the air this week I've had a terrible week for sleeping and this week is a happy week so no idea why. Hopefully next week will be better for us both |

Just reading this made me want to cry.
I’m dreadful with any less than 5-6 hours, I cannot function at all. I feel for you. Hope you manage to get some sleep soon! |

2 hours sleep isn’t enough, but I go through phases where 2-3 hours is my normal for weeks. It does eventually catch up with you and you slip back into a normalish sleep pattern.
If I don’t, then I take a dose of night nurse (liquid) on a Friday and that has me sleeping through. There are other natural things you can take.
You might be functioning ok but it’s really not healthy to go for that long a period with limited sleep |

Hey OP
Has something changed in that period of time, work, family etc that is on your mind?
We have a window of opportunity to sleep, some need more than others, I'm no expert but would imagine 2 hours isn't enough.
How about going for a walk before bed, whatever the weather to try and clear your mind, avoid caffeine and do a relaxation breathing app.
Failing that a friend of mine takes Nightol
Xx

"I thought I was bad on 5 hours! I wouldn't be able to function on 2 or 3, my concentration levels are rubbish as it is.
Definitely see your Dr if this is an ongoing problem. "
By the time I get to see my Dr I’ll be cured |

I have a terrible sleep pattern and, having been wired
Up to all sorts of gizmos, it seems that I manage about 1.5-2 hours deep sleep a night, the rest of my sleep is made up of fitful cat napping type sleep. Live life tired, but am used to it these days.
Have tried dropping caffeine, sugar etc. From
Diet, breathing exercises, meditation, all sorts but nothing really seems too help |

Being physically exhausted helps.
On the days where I'm on a 10hr shift and run around like a maniac I sleep well.
I also need a dark cool quiet bedroom.
Some nights I only get around 3hrs - it's terrible to be so tired it's not enough sleep!
Try physical exertion OP - failing that maybe see your doctor x |

Thanks for all replies guys. Just taking a quick break at work. Started at 7 this morning. To answer some questions nothing really has changed in life. Never been a great sleeper but for some reason 2 hours is becoming a norm. I do a very physical job at work and normally do early starts. I have tried all the different recommendations except docs and pills. I'm functional so I think until that changes I'll carry on chatting away during the night |

Over the counter Nytol works. Not cheap. Expect to need a lie in.
Cocodomol also helps. Mmm opiates.
I was suggested to take an antihistamine, that’s what pregnant women do.
Guy at work swears by CBD.
Try sleep hygiene. No tv in bed (sorry TVs). Only sex or sleep. No devices before bed - power them off and put them away.
Then ensure you clear your mind before sleep. Try some relaxation / mindfulness techniques. |

Other things I forgot to suggest - cut out caffeine after lunch.
Don’t eat sugar in the evening
Milk can promote sleep, try warm milky decaffeinated drink before bed.
Try and tune the room temp, not too hot not too cold.
Apparently 16c is ideal. |

And get rid of clocks so you’re not obsessing about how little sleep. Notepad and paper by the bed to write down whatever you’re thinking about, Park it and follow up the next day.
And ffs see a doctor.
Good luck with it. I’ve struggled for years since having a job with a lot of international travel and 24x7 working patterns. |

Keep an eye on sugar levels if this is ongoing ... sleep deprivation can increase production of cortisol, which can make cells more resistant to insulin and can also trigger changes to other hormones, including thyroid stimulating hormone and testosterone, which can lead to decreased insulin sensitivity and higher blood sugars.
It's an often overlooked but significant risk factor for type 2 diabetes ... and thats been seen with those getting between four to six hours of sleep per night, never mind the 2 hours that you are experiencing OP.
I knew the basic principal but must admit to copy and pasting the technical bit. |
