I'm at the teaching the kiddos their letters phase.

I can't seem to spell things out like an adult any more!

I had the learn to pronounce several letters, words when I first moved to Sussex.

H's were one of them

Working in a school, sat reading to my reception class

Condensed story...

Little boy giggles, then another, then they start whispering.

I ask them what's wrong

"you said a naughty word Miss"

Frantically looking back over the page, a story I'd read a 100 times, panicking what I'd actually said...

Asked what I'd said, he wouldn't say it out loud as wasn't allowed to swear, so he whispered in my ear

"You said bottom Miss, the naughty word for bottom"

Aye us Midlanders, we live in arses instead of houses

As for how I used to pronounce the word 'can't'
