I'm freaking out (morbid subject BEWARE)

Over the last 4 years my health has been getting worse, seems like every time I go to the Docs I come away with more meds, so I have been thinking of late about preparations, now death itself does not scare me at all, I am a believer in the afterlife and I know my loved ones are waiting for me but I am petrified of being cremated alive, I have always known since I was a child that I did not want to be buried as there were stories in the family about a live burial but now I'm freaking out about waking up burning

I wouldn't worry they drain your body of blood before cremating and let the gasses out so you dont explode.

One of the most common objects that people ask to be buried with is a fully charged mobile phone... Just in case...

Well prob not a nice way of putting it but when cremated you are deader than dead and they have to watch for methane build up or bang.

the human body is made up of about 75% water so before crimation the body is dried out by putting it in a in a incinerator till all the fluid is vaporize, they also remove things like pacemaker with will explode and all prostheses and silicone implants

basically all thats left when they actually crimation is taken place is a dried out shall, so theres no chance of you waking up

I can tell you that apart from embalming nothing is done to a body before cremation. Pacemakers and fixation are removed, metal is not and is retrieved later.

And believe me if you wernt dead before embalming you would be after so dont worry!

so what if you wake up in the incinerator?"

if i remember correctly the incineratoe is set at 593d so if you was asleep when you went in your be dead before to had time to wake up

Embalming before cremation is only normally done if it is intended to have an open coffin at a service, not for normal cremation and yes according to research I have done the only thing removed from bodies beforehand are pacemakers if relevant

No not exactly, most people are embalmed unless its against religious beliefs, it preserves the body for a short time to gives family and friends a chance to pay last respects, it doesn't affect creamtion or otherwise. There are so many myths and stories connected to death and burials/cremations etc and what happens. Most are old wives tales. Trust me i'm an undertaker.

thing is the time between death and being buried or cremated can be over a week, if you havnt eaten or d*unk in over a week i dont think theres much chance of you waking up on fire

this is the whole reason people used to be buried with a bell on the tombstone, with a string attached going down into the grave.

Simone Ive tried to PM you but cant.

Seriously, stop worrying. Its a good idea to sort your funeral, your wishes carried out and all that not to mention the rising costs. Do it, leave the details with family and forget about it! Get on with your LIFE and enjoy every moment of it!

Wouldn't be allowed in a crem - batteries exlode - hence people being opened up to haave pacemakers removed before the oven goees on...

I was thinking more of burial...;-)

But the scene from James Bond is a recurring nightmare...

Personally Id prefer to be discovered by a major film director... At the bottom of the Marianas trench..;-);-)

Having watched a loved one be cremated, no way on this earth would I put my family through that and when I go wherever I am going, I want a whole body not ashes

I have also told my kids what I want as when my dad died suddenly, he wouldn't discuss it when he was alive so we didn't really know what he wanted and had to sort out all the arrangements. I even know what music I want

Some crematoriums actually have open days for people to see what happens in the whole cremation process ! Maybe be beneficial if you are worried ! X

"I wouldn't worry they drain your body of blood before cremating and let the gasses out so you dont explode. "

you are nearly right the blood is drained and replaced with embalming fluid it is also injected in to the stomach after the digestive fluids have been drained out,

this is known as hygienic treatment, and is done to stop you smelling for the days before your burial or cremation

hope this is puts your mind at rest

Have it written into your will that someone has to knock a 6" nail through your skull to make sure you're dead. Sorted.

Enjoy the afterlife but don't be surprised if you wake up dead to find there's nothing there.
