Well - since you Fabbers love music. BAST came out with an interesting study that says if you listen to 78 Minutes of music each day it improves your mental health.

Ultimately, a recommended intake of music each day includes:

14 minutes of uplifting music (user’s choice) to feel happy (18% of your musical RDA)

16 minutes of calming music (user’s choice) to feel relaxed (20.5% of your music RDA)

16 minutes of music (user’s choice) to overcome sadness (20.5% of your music RDA)

15 minutes of motivating music (user’s choice) to aid concentration (19% of your music RDA)

17 minutes of music (user’s choice) to help manage anger (22% of your music RDA)

(RDA - Recommended daily allowance)

Do you listen to alot of music? What is your music routine? Would this study encourage you to listen to more?

Hefty Hideaway

I'm a believer. Music has the power to turn my frown upside down in many cases.

I listen to Latin and reggaeton for this very reason!

It counterbalances my love of sad maudlin songs

I do all the chores to music it gives me the motivation to power through and by proxy makes me feel better.

Problem with music for me is that I associate the songs with whatever happened to me at that time the song was out. And as the bad times outweigh the good it sucks.

We are both passionate music lovers and players/performers, especially classical. I don't think we could break our listening up into the categories you list though.

The list is a recommendation from the study.

My mates band is called Bast, thought you were talking about them.

Music is the only thing calms my mood coz I'm probably too distracted to care about anything. My tatses are pretty varied. Though I am a Metalhead at heart throught out the day I shift from Motorhead to Simon and Garlfukle to Blink 182 to Jefferson Airplane to King dude to Emperor and so on. Music is my life

I find, in my experience anyways, most "metalheads" have an extraordinary range of musical interests because metal can be so diverse.

And that's co about your mates band name.

Yes, some can be pretentious about it calling themselves eclectic coz they listen Jazz influenced Grind or symphonic Black Metal. Buts yes most are varied as it becomes about finding the right tones and aesthetics.

This is really interesting - most of my music is played in the evening (uplifting) Then once I'm in bed relaxation/meditation music before sleep.

Listen to a huge amount of music of one particular genre.

I either play my vinyl records if I've got time to choose what I fancy or I'll go to YouTube and randomly search for that genres playlist and listen to someone else's likes

I love music but most days don't get to listen to as much as I would like... no radio at work.

The right music can definitely lift my mood.

For hubby, music is very much part of his life, both listening and performing.

Working at home today, I always have background music on whilst I work here. I find it both uplifting and aids concentration.

Currently have a you tube mix of eclectic music ranging from Chopin, Hans Zimmer, Max Richter to through Coldplay, Radiohead, Woodkid and London Grammar to Muse, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC to name a few

Music heals the soul
