1980s mix tape...
Jump to: Newest in thread
Found a load of 80s/90s mix tapes recently when I was having a clear out.
Now working my way through them.
Bit of Thomas Dolby on at the min...class tuneage!
What tunes would you put on the Fab 80s mix tape?

At risk of sounding like Alan Partridge... got to have some A-Ha on your 80s mix tape.
Also Pet Shop Boys, Simply Red, Fairground Attraction, Erasure, Kim Wilde (one of my first crushes - her and strangely enough Sue Lawley) haha...

Those of us who grew up in the 80s can honestly say we had the best music of our generation, how it influenced music moving forward and the fact some groups and musicians we grew up with are still performing. |

"ABC - The Look of Love
One of my fave songs. Play it loud
Love ABC, some on this tape.
Followed by some Scritti Politti "
Thing that's always bothered me about ABC is Martin Fry's dodgy grasp of logic.
If you judge a book by the cover
Then you judge the look by the lover.
Lover by the look, surely?
I may be overthinking... |

I've had this problem, primarily with the song If I Had a Hammer. I'm willing to bet pretty much everyone who's ever sung that song did actually have a hammer. Plus there's nothing about what to do between the morning and evening hammering. I don't think they thought it through... |

That's reminded me of a classic Never Mind The Buzzcocks moment where the late and great Sean Hughes questioned Haircut 100's "Love Plus One" and the line "Where do we go from here, is it down the lake I fear" and asked how you could be frightened of a specific lake |

Perfect Skin by Lloyd Cole is one of my favourite songs of all time.
He used to change the last line to "we need another government" when singing it live, when I was young, radical and anti-Thatch. |

Yes, thatched roofs are hard to insure and are a fire risk, I can see why Mr Cole took against them |

His next single after Perfect Skin was Forest Fire, so you may be onto something.
I was so impressed too, I thought he was anti-Tory. I feel robbed. |

I love it how diving back into your past brings up so many memories of when you were young and hadn’t a care in the world! Strangely this next one reminds me of a girlfriend I once had who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident in 1990 and at the same time my most enjoyable Fab meet to date..!
