A time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. But before you crack open that bottle of wine think about all the heartache that's been brought to the world as a result. |

"Human beings will always have the capacity to create heartache in the world whether Christmas exists or not."
Of course, but never before in such a widespread and cataclysmic way, nor in the name of a supposed 'saviour'. |

Blaming faith is like blaming guns. People abuse power, whether that’s given by a constructed controlled version of faith called religion. Or a metal/carbon weapon that launches projectiles.
Blame the user of the tool. Not the tool.
Oh and Merry Christmas |

Nevertheless, the best way of preventing someone from doing harm is to take their means of doing harm away. Besides, it's not all about murder and bloodshed, most often it's been much more insidious than that. |

I'm not celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, I'm celebrating dancake rum truffles being back in Morrison's and guilt-free necking of Bailey's at breakfast.
Do I still need to feel bad about religious intolerance? |

And just how do you suggest we take religion away from believers OP? |

"Wasn't really Jesus's fault was it?
If he decides to be born again this year I expect he'd face a similar fate - those in power cling on to it mercilessly!"
No it wasn't but whatever it was he was hoping to achieve he failed miserably. I don't think such a monumental failure is worthy of any kind of celebration. |

Unfortunately i have no idea but they did succeed in taking it away from us so it must be possible. Replace one belief system with another perhaps? Though i wouldn't suggest doing it in quite the same way. |
