When I was a kid in California my parents would always go to thrift shops looking for bargains. Got loads of cool toys out of it. Didn't care they were second hand.

Only clothing items I normally won't spare expense are shoes. You usually get what you pay for comfort /quality wise. Everything else is fair game

My Aldo shoes are so comfortable and cost £2. Would never usually buy shoes from a charity shop but these are lovely and hardly been worn.

Hahaha, I guess you'll never know unless you look! I found 4 pairs of Levi Jeans for around $8 a pair amongst other things. We've also used them to cheaply kit out cabin kitchens or basic AirBNB kitchens on holiday (large pots, frying pans, extra mugs, utensils etc etc) then we take it all back before we go home!

One frying pan was so good I made room in the suitcase for it

I've picked up a few items from charity shops and my friend, who is a priest, is always wanting to rummage around in them when we head out for coffee.

I generally browse the books and, if anyone comes up and asks if they can help, inquire if they have the collected works of Aleister Crowley.

Everywhere you go there are charity shops and some of them charge ridiculous prices for secondhand stuff. I don't like wearing other people's shoes or clothes but I do look for vinyl records. I know they have to make money but I think they charge too much these days, certainly in my area.

All my used stuff goes to the local Emaueas community. I used to sell it online but I don’t have the time anymore. I’m happy for the residents to wear it or sell it good luck to them.

I know a very good charity shop in London that gets some very decent stuff in that’s rumoured to come from a couple of Celebs. If I’m in the area I will often pop in.

All my winter coats and those for the grandchildren come form charity shops, nearly all of them brand new too.

Today my coat, scarf, dress and jumper were all charity shop finds and none of it boring or poor quality.

Just beware of the shops that like to charge almost full price for pre-loved stuff and watch out for the more scruffy places, they often have gems of items at next to nothing. I got a White Stuff heavy scarf recently and all I was asked for was 50p.

That is a bargain! I look for White Stuff scarf’s on EBay and they still go for quite a price. I usually get outbid in the last few seconds

I did buy some bedside drawers for my youngest’s bedroom for £10. I was quite chuffed with that. He’s done his best to demolish them but they are still going strong.

Most of the charities which have high street shops also have Ebay accounts and the really good stuff never gets into the shops. Others have specialist dealers visit once a week for valuable items.

One national charity will charge higher prices in the more affluent areas, Only last week I found a shop selling a used slow cooker for £27, Googled it when I got home and it was readily available new for under £20

Some of the best bargains are in the mega charity shops springing up in retail parks across the country,Find them on Google.

we bought a gorgeous 1940s dressing table in the summer, sanded it down, painted it and replaced the handles. A couple of weeks ago we found a beautiful blanket box type thing with an upholstered top which I will replace and a bureau that needs upcycling. The whole lot was less than £100 and its quality furniture and we have original stuff unlike anyone elses.

I shop at charity shops a lot, mainly out of convenience more than anything. My local high street has a lot of them. I've generally not failed to find what I'm looking for. And going to the charity shops saves me having to go into town or an out of town retail park. Even found a keyboard with an old school PS2 connector for a little project of mine I was tinkering with. I very much doubted I would find one, most of the shops only sell USB ones these days. I also do a fair bit of clothes shopping in charity shops, I'm just don't like shopping in big busy stores.

Almost all of my furniture is 2nd hand, I refuse to buy new when there's good quality stuff already out there that someone no longer wants. Bit of tlc sometime & your onto a winner.

Clothes I buy rarely, most are gifts, hand me downs or from charity shops & wear to absolute death. Goes from my good gear to lounging gear to horse/car gear..where it's gonna get really ruined by holes & stains then it's rags for cleaning

It was the price tag it had prior to the closing down sale. But that may have been a reason that they were closing down
