Some interesting opinions on the last thread. The post was regarding Harry and Meghan spending Christmas in the states, with her Mum, rather than the traditional Christmas at Sandringham. For those that are negative towards them, I was just reminding them of the charity work they do, especially Harry, in Lesotho. His work with our service personnel. William helping to save lives, with the air ambulance, giving his salary to charity.

I think it's lovely that they are spending Christmas with Meghan's mum. I'm sure they will spend some time with the royals too.

My thoughts were that the Queen and Philip are old and it may be one of their last , Chistmases, I hope not. We knew last Christmas would be my sister in law's last Christmas, so we all spent it with her...would be ideal if Doria could come to them here

I meant they have the time to spare than most in a year, of course, I know most days isn't going to be Xmas.

We're looking at the wrong things.

I think that is a misconception. As I said in the first thread, they do a lot of charity work and most are patrons of their own charities. Princess Anne especially goes to many functions throughout the year, we don't always get to hear about it though

Well it is a break from Royal engagements so a nice family break.. I am not keen on corgis so would not fancy it.

Someone said that the press are motivated by racialism but not convinced at all by this. No evidence at all for that statement.

Some people don't bother with Christmas. Doesn't mean they aren't happy.

With all the shit that Meghan has been getting from the papers they might have decided it's best if they go away and have a quiet Christmas with her mum.

I don't understand all the emphasis some people plce on one day. It can be stressful to some. They may want to spend happy time together on a different day.

If a relative dies and the sum of their relationship was based on just one day of the year that would be pretty shit.

She hasn't been married long enough, possibly the amount of time out of the country could also go against her application. She still has to file her tax return in the USA and here.

My relationship with my relative, who has just died, wasnt based on one day of the year. Our family are spread all over the place, Christmas is a big family get together for us and especially for her. She just wanted to be surrounded by her loving family, for her last Christmas.

Our rules would prevent her being naturalised at the moment. If she had been treated as a special case people would be up in arms.

I must admit that when it comes to party games I am incredibly boring. I detest charades and being asked to read a cracker joke..

I wallow in self pity and misery at Christmas and so betide anybody who tells me to cheer up...

The press are intrusive and I am not convinced that it's racially motivated. Cliff Richard, Prince Andrew, and hundreds more get the same treatment. It's got nothing to do with racism imo

Their decision looks perfectly reasonable now that I've seen the Andrew interview.

Who would want to spend Christmas locked in with creepy Uncle Andrew? Or with his aggrieved daughter, Cousin Beatrice, who really will struggle now to get even Ch5 to broadcast her wedding after what Daddy said?
