Time for new sofas

So we're looking to buy some new sofas, and it's occurred to me that the should be "fun friendly". What considerations are worth keeping in mind? Looking at a r seat corner sofa and a 2 seater currently. Which should allow for plenty of group situations. Any useful features you've had fun with? Thinking of things like a chaise longue end on the 2 seater, rather than an armrest?

Don't get it from DFS. The footrest part had no internal support, just fabric stapled over a wooden frame. It caved in a few times just from the dog laying on it.
