Going on tour. Worth catching, do you think?

I love The Who, but they're pretty far from the level they were on, I assume.

Any thoughts?

I guess it depends on why you want to see them. If you want nostalgia then you will get it, but if you want a cutting-edge performance then you won’t get that.

I’ve seen them a few times and the interaction between Townshend and Daltrey is always good to see but sometimes they do go through the motions. I was lucky enough to catch them when the Ox was still alive but never saw them with Moonie, they’ve been through so much together that maybe a bit of nostalgia isn’t a bad thing.

Yeah, I just want to see their chemistry, so to speak. I suppose it might be a roll of the dice on whether they have a good or a bad night.

I do like them, so maybe it's worth taking a chance

Oh, now that's a good idea! I'll see if I can find some recordings. And, as you say they're still doing well, I'll likely look for tickets

Cheers!

I went to see Black Sabbath a few years ago on the basis that I might not get the chance again. They were great and I enjoyed it.

How many more tours will The Who have in them?

Do it! I haven't seen them but I was very pleasantly surprised by The Rolling Stones when I went to see them last year, I was expecting old men past their best but Jagger and the rest of the band were outstanding. I'm trying to see as many of these classic rock bands as I can before they are gone forever.

Now see, personally i get a bit meh when bands of a mature standing do this, because i fear vocally they’ll struggle and ruin your idea of them, especially such a band who were so rock n roll in their behaviour.

That said, i saw Tommy the Musical and bloody loved it so hearing those songs live might be worth it.

See the post above about the Stones, an amazing live band.

Oh don't knock them just yet! I saw them perform a couple of years ago in Glasgow and although I knew only a few songs, they were absolutely fantastic! Roger doesn't really speak in between tracks - Pete Townshend does all of that.

Saw them a few years ago and they were great, although Roger’s voice isn’t what it used to be. No qualms about seeing them again, already bought a ticket for the new tour, bloody expensive mind but as has previously been said, they won’t be around forever

As you haven’t seen them before then yes definitely go, don’t expect too much in the way of chemistry between Roger and Pete.

I’m not sure they’ve ever really been too matey

I'd see them given the opportunity, but I'm not sure who the last person was who told Roger Daltrey he can sing was. Luke
