The right place

Do you pray? If so, to who or what?

Does it work?

Pray to Joe Pesci!

But in all seriousness, nothing fails like prayer.

I don’t pray in a religious sense and I don’t believe in any god. But my mum passed away when I was a little girl and it comforts me to believe that in difficult times in my life if I “talk to” her she’ll guide me, and I do look up to the sky as though I’m praying when I do, if that makes sense. Might sound a little bit crackers but, it’s my comfort I guess.

It doesn't sound crackers at all. I do something similar with my dad and close friends. This might sound crackers but sometimes when things are really difficult I stop and try and *hear* them and what they'd tell me to do.

I think it’s possible to *hear* them. I don’t literally mean in a voice from the other side way. But I think memetically people live on in the minds of their loved ones.

I pray for sinners on Fridays.

Tonight I’m doubling down on the town shamers and buzzword carriers

We both sometimes talk to our daughter in this way. There is no rational reason for it, but it’s comforting nevertheless.

I don't mock anybody for doing it but I personally don't pray because I have no reason to believe it makes any difference at all. I have no reason to believe there is anybody there to listen to me, let alone one who would act on what I might say.

Prayers have many form. Mediating is one of them... Mindfulness can even be categorised as prayer in some way.

It possesses some healing properties.

So yes I do and yes it works.

Not since I was a brainwashed child at a CofE school, I quickly abandoned all religion as a teenager.

There is scientific evidence that prayer and meditation are extremely good for the brain. That’s not to make any claim that and supernatural being exists. But prayer is especially good if you believe you are praying to an all loving benevolent deity. However, if you picture God as a judgemental tyrannical being it can lead to bad mental health.

I tend to pray to dead relatives more than god.

Like “Look nan, if you make this gigantic poo flush away without making the toilet overflow i’ll be eternally grateful”.

I stopped going to Church when my Grampy died.

If they ever get too big you might have to pray to find a plumber.
