Hoe do you manage messages?

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

If you reply politely with a no thank you they still message, or get rude and aggressive.

If you delete the message they message asking what's wrong with them.

If you don't read the message they just continue to message

If I am polite and chat they automatically think I'm interested.

Do I really need to block everytime???

Which people then say is massively rude.

What a minefield

?

I have a look at the profile, and if i'm not interested I just leave the message unread until it eventually gets auto deleted.

If I like the look of their profile I'll then read the message and see if I want to reply or not (generally not as it's normally a 'how are you?' or FAF, in which case it gets marked unread and left)

I haven't got the time or the inclination to send replies to all the messages I receive

I read the message. Perve the profile and reply. Either a “thanks but too far” or a message building on meeting, maybe. Then i delete all once read.

I have filters up. I don’t get shitty messages (for some reason) and if they are declined they say thanks for replying and go.

Sometimes they message back a funny (ha ha) reply and we will chat some more.

I tend to have lovely messages to be honest. Not arse kissing ones, just always polite, or funny. I’m very lucky.

I generally read the message, and the profile and verifications. Then just don't reply if I'm not interested.

Most don't say a thing if I delete at that point.

Leaving the message unread means I could miss a message accidentally

In a wax coated bubble

Fab FAQ suggests that if you do not get a reply then to assume that the person is not interested.

I read the profile and if I like what i see I will read the message, if not I delete unread.

Any abuse is instant block.

your imagination

I generally don't reply to mail from people I don't know or haven't at least interacted with on the forums... Cold mailers.

I also find it's rarely necessary to open these messages to read them. The full 'hi sexy how u?' is visible in your mailbox. These I just delete without opening and usually that's the end of it... Like you, I tend to find that it's actually the people you do bother to write a 'thanks but no thanks' message to that will take umbrage.

When I send a message to someone new it doesn't always mean that I want to meet, sometimes I may just be making a joke about a status or something, or most likley it is because I like a particular picture. I often don't get a reply so that is how I leave it, I have had some replay and say not interested and have never been or would be rude or offensive. It is nice just to get a response though if I have made a compliment or something .

I must admit to being a bit of a soft touch when it comes to messages.

For some reason, I like to try to reply to everyone.

Thankfully these days I don't seem to get that many.

The messages that get me are the ones that say "have I said something wring?" Or "have I said something to upset you?" Just because I haven't replied straight away.

Don't they realise I have a life!?

Role reversal needed I think!

I wouldn’t have a clue what it’s like to get 100’s of messages that your not interested in.

Like I assume you don’t know what it is like to send loads of messages but forever have a empty inbox.

I don’t get why people keep chasing for a reply, if I’m not what your looking for then that’s fine, just tell me & I’ll go away. (I’m not everybody’s cuppa just like they ain’t mine)

But for me, if you don’t open it & reply with a ‘thanks but no thanks’ message then as far as these men are aware you’ve received so many messages that you’ve not had a chance to read their one, so they keep on.

As a cple the block gets used a lot on single men sadly, not all but a fair few disrespect either one of us or both thinking their cock pic is a instant yes or the opening line of I want to fill her cunt ect, then u kindly turn unsuitable men down only for them to forget and try again,we also get I've seen or met ur girl in a club and think that's a instant pass lol.we carefully check profiles seeing who and what type of meets they have had, also a lot can be gained from how much time u think its took em to fill their profile out as some expect u to meet a faceless profile or message,we feel forced to block single males but haven't as yet as we would say only 3 out of every 10 are worthy, that's not us been picky or having high standards, its the way some don't grasp how swinging works ie thinking its a dating site or trying to pass the fem their number or Kik,we get men asking to meet them on their terms, times, even asking tobe picked up,all equal block list,we do however have a lot of good men friends who don't appear to come across as desperate and guess what, filled in profiles, face pics and plenty up to date veris

I set my age settings slim like currently 36-38yr males atm and rotate them round as I fancy to minimise messages.

I then have a cut n paste rejection message for those that include a picture as requested, but I'm not interested in. If theres no picture/cock picture and a basic hello msg I just delete. Interactive amusing messages will usually get a response.

The "but why not Me?" Messages may get a blumt yet helpful response if I'm in the mood to help.

Persistent get blocked. I've blocked more than I thought I'd have to actually!

The message I get the most, despite STRAIGHT being in capital letters and a paragraph on not at all being curious and for gay/bi/tv & ts guys to message someone else to save their own time... "

Yea you could be right-almost like the offer of a blowjob from a guy cos you’re within 5 miles is enough to forget that you’re straight!

I, like you can never keep on top so when I get to a nice round figure say 150 unread and loads more not responded to I just delete everything. You can with one click, it's very liberating!

Also as you can't see beyond two pages they get lost anyway.

If people want you they will message again!

Ps before you think I am hard hearted I announce I am going to do it so people don't think I am dissing them.

I usually reply with... oh no wait, I need to receive a message to reply to one.

But I don’t get the whole getting angry if someone says no thanks or doesn’t reply. As a man I’ve had that since I was 16!!

We can message each other if you like?

I am not that complicated x"

What does 'complicated' mean? Lol

Block is the best thing to do. Don't message them again. No time wasted in them replying. It works best. I prefer a block than a no reply or no thanks.

You're damned if you do and damned if you dont...

I get exactly what youre saying.. I was too polite and always replied and they would think I was interested, so I try not to do that so much now..

I mostly just delete and if they message again.. block

Its all part of the fun of fabbing. If wverything worked perfectly and wveryone was well behaved, gosh it would be so boring.

When you can block with a click, what is there to worry. Dont let the drip drip of messages wear you down. Have your plan and execute it every time. Dispassionately.

A polite “I’m a 7, you’re a 5.” is normally sufficient.

It's nice to get a reply, even if it is a no, but I get that there are just too many for some to reply to all of them. If a message is deleted the signal should be pretty clear I guess.

I think it's the spiders on the cobwebs that scare women away from my inbox...that must be it haha

Don't worry what people think.

I realised afters few days on here i would need to hire a PA to be able to deal with every message.

Trust the universe, the right ones will get through one way or another.

If you've said 'thanks but no thanks' and they persist .. block, it's really fine.

I've been blocked twice.. no idea why. Whatevs, I can't know, can't control it so.... I Don't take it personally. I might feel differently after I felt a connection, but you owe nothing and are not responsible for others feelings.

Have a little blockathon .. go on! With the ones that clearly haven't read your profile. Ready, aim, fire, block! And breathe x

X

"My butler Cuthbert handles my inbound and outbound correspondence.

Can I borrow him?

He’s preparing supper at present but I’ll request he assist you later."

I fear that Cuthbert may have been at the cooking sherry again if he's preparing supper at 3pm!

Generally Mr is my first filter

Any messages that are just "hi" or just aimed towards one of us (these are normally males asking I meet alone) are really just a block straight away.

If we get a reply to our message where we have said no thank you, we delete reply, if they still persist then we then block them.

"If you reply politely with a no thank you they still message, or get rude and aggressive.

If you delete the message they message asking what's wrong with them.

If you don't read the message they just continue to message

If I am polite and chat they automatically think I'm interested.

Do I really need to block everytime???

Which people then say is massively rude.

What a minefield "

I’m sure i’m Like most guys in that I send a fair few messages. I always check to see if they’ve opened. If the message hasn’t been opened after like 24hrs then I may resend it because yesterday’s message is prob way off the screen.

If she has opened the message and i’ve Not had a reply then I leave it at that and move on, it’s obvious she had read it and I don’t want to be strung along if she isn’t interested

You're right it is. And I now stop going on PM game because I am constantly pestered by one person... (I know that's the point of the game) but when my first message comes through from him now ... I put 'I'm out' on the thread... because he is relentless; and cant take a polite 'go ask someone else now'. Theres no fun in the game anymore. I look at the game thread and there is just a stream of my messages in blue! Ok.. moan over. "

Why don't you block him? Or just ignore his messages and play with everyone else?
