Is there anyway to avoid paying this in the UK?
If Britex goes through, I believe the real estate market will take a dip and I’m looking to invest...
But I can’t find any loopholes around this stamp tax...... |

"You only pay SDLT on properties over £125,000 and can reclaim a rebate if your first on properties upto £300,000"
This is the confusing part.......
Please explain this rebate to me? |

Actually think it's on £300,000 to £500,000 but only if you've never bought a house before! Literally for first time buyers only |

"I think everyone knows the OP means brexit. Have you tried looking at government websites, perhaps ask a financial advisor or estate agent OP, they may be able to help. "
Thank you , I’m just looking at the moment...
I don’t want to waste a estate agents time until I’m ready to buy....
I used a mortgage website to do some research and my stamp tax bill would be 580,000
I might have to use a third party.... |

Pays to get good financial advice mate. I just managed to get 5k back from the taxman reference a second property.
I am like you and waiting to see what happens in the next year or so before I continue buying up property.
It’s exciting times I think if you are willing to play the long game. |

You’ll get a nice 2 bed flat in Knightsbridge for about 4 million Over £500k stamp duty is certainly believable if it’s purchased as an additional property....a first time buyer would be hit for almost £500k at those prices |

£580,000???
Best person to ask about tax avoidence is a politican, especially a bent millionaire tory. They know all the scams, moves and loopholes. They should tell you all the ways you can do it and get away with it, providing you hand them a big enough brown envelope....

It's proportionate to the value of your home, assuming it's a second property.
A £90,000 purchase attracts 3% duty, I believe and goes up from there. Put your money in shares instead. |

"If your buying a second property you can avoid the additional BTL 3% DUTY by buying through a ltd company. I would do some research if I were you OP. Some good forums out there for landlords."
Basically I’m just kicking tires at the moment...
I’ve gotten some great advice through emails...
But I’ll only make a move if the UK leaves the EU....

"is this another thread pretending to be rich to get more women? "
I’m not rich at all..... I live in my mother’s basement, get a government check every month, and I troll people in the UK to get sex....

"Wasn't Britex the maker of Seat Belts for UK car manufacturers in the 50's to 70's?
Britax, they still make them I think"
They still make car seats and I'm sure my eldest's first buggy was Britax, but could be wrong |

Greed has nothing to do with it.......
I’m looking for a quick return on my investment, this stamp tax is total BS.... |

There are stamp duty mitigation schemes but they're high risk and buyer BEWARE ! |

Have you looked at buying away from London where the property is cheaper so you'd pay lower stamp duty ?
Not 100% sure this year but it used to be if it was your home under 125k you didn't pay any but if it was a buy to let or second home you pay an extra 3%
So if it's below 125k instead of £0 you'd pay 3% |

No I haven’t look anywhere besides London.....
I’m not looking for any property, it’s too much upkeep....
London is perfect.... close to the airport and the property lots are small....
Also I have to buy something above 125k....
In Knightsbridge, 125k can only buy a mailbox...
