Earlier today I had a wee niggly toothache, which seems to have cleared up on it's own.
It got me thinking, I've seen a lot of people say toothache is worse than childbirth and I have to strongly disagree. Maybe I've just never had properly bad toothache before, a couple of ibuprofen and it's usually gone.
My question is this. What's the worst physical pain you've ever experienced? |

I had an abscess on a wisdom tooth. The left side of my face and neck were massive, I looked completely deformed. Hospitalised for a little over a week, I will never forget it. The pain was unbelievable, it took over my body.
It was worse than giving birth for me. |

I have to say, that toothache is definetly worse than childbirth. When you've had toothache so bad that your face swells up from your ear down to your throat' it's agony.
Earache is actually more or less on the same level too. |

Has to be dry socket after a tooth extraction. |

Gall bladder stones for me. When that pain hits you at night, spreading across your back, down your spine and into you hips and no matter what you did or pain killers you took nothing touched it, you just had to ride it out until the morning and it stopped.
I gave birth without any pain relief and I’d rather do that ten times over, than ever experience pain like that again |

"A colposcopy. Who ever said they didn't hurt fucking lied. At least childbirth resulted in something nice!!!"
I had a colonoscopy a few months ago. It was a bit uncomfortable, but not as unpleasant as an endoscopy.
The worse pain? For me, it's having 6 tons of fork lift truck crushing the steel toecap of my boot, and crushing my foot in the process |

Is it weird that the hen made me wince more than the crushed spinal nerves? "
Both were pretty bad, the eye pain cleared within a day or two. The other one, years |

Top lip threading was akin to crowning during labour.
Kidney stones was pretty painful too.
Blood pressure headache's can be bad at times and last for days .
However these are nothing in comparison to some people and for that I'm very thankful . |

Wow!! Sounds hell of a lot worse than mine. I remember crying with my dad carrying me pacing the living room waiting for the doc to come. Still have scars under boob, side and back and the feeling in them doesn’t really come back properly x |

I've 10 tattoos. I've given birth. I've had gall stones. I've had a serious kidney infection
By far the worse pain was miscarriage. Not looking for sympathy, it's just one of those things. No one tells you how sore it is! |

I've had horrendous toothache a couple of times and I've also given birth.
The toothache top trumps giving birth. Even while I was popping the sprog out I was thinking " well this isn't as bad as toothache!"

I know what that's like. Having a severe brain infection felt like an iron girder directly pressing down on the brain. Nothing else existed but that pain, and the vomiting due to the pain.
I was hospitalised for 4 weeks. The pain lasted for 10 weeks. |

I’m not sure what this pain is I suffer from, I think it’s related to diverticulitis. But I’ve given birth, had gallstones and an ectopic pregnancy that almost ruptured but this absolutely floors me, even painkillers don’t touch it. X |

"According to Google I may have a rotator cuff injury If it doesn't stop hurting soon I'll have to have it seen to.
"
I had this problem in both shoulders a few years ago and had them treated with steroid injections. Half a minute of excruciating pain and then pain free ever since. Definitely worth exploring. Private consultant had suggested surgery to remove a bone spur ... guess that would have been more profitable for him. Second opinion and procedure via NHS resolved it. |

I've had shingles but didn't find it that bad, all my skin felt very sensitive and I felt like I had flu but it wasn't agony.
Worst pain was probably the week or so following double inguinal hernia surgery, every time I moved or tried to stand it was like a white hot knife slicing through my stomach and groin
I've had plantar fasciitis for about a year as well which can be pretty painful too. |

You mean apart from the time Sappy nailed my bits to a plank of wood because it would be "fun"?
I've actually been lucky in the accidental pain stakes - splitting my head open twice as a kid was pretty painful but other than that it's been stubbed toes or banged elbows mostly |

For me it’s tooth ache, it was agony. I have given birth twice, one of which was back to back, but our minds are very clever at forgetting the intensity of the pain at childbirth thanks to some wonderful hormones. Having seen many births, childbirth is far more painful but toothache is fully in my memory, and is a pointless pain |

Toothache is definitely up there for me, when it’s been at it’s worst. I’d say childbirth but actually... worse than that was, without a doubt, severe abdominal pain due to an allergy I had (that I didn’t realise I had at the time). On a few occasions after eating the offending foods I was paralysed with pain, curled up on the floor in agony - it honestly felt like something inside had ruptured. Never felt pain like it since and hope to never again since learning to avoid foods that trigger it! |

I've had lots of broken bits due to my job but the most painful was being told not to look at my right hand & of course you immediately do & my motorcycle glove was ripped up with the thumb part parallel to my forearm next to my wrist pointing towards my elbow.
With my thumb still in it..
Got it put back together but gives me lots of gyp & has limited movement in the cold, sometimes seizing up all together until I massage it.
S

Having my son on just pethidine & gas and air hurt, but I once had toothache that was insanely agonising. I thought I was going crazy with it!!
However, I had a hysterectomy in 2016 with an 8inch cut across my abdomen which blummin hurt. I then got trapped wind and constipation the day after which hurt like nothing else! I could hardly move to resolve it and even morphine didn't kill the pain. Oddly peppermint tea did more to help!! |

I crushed the end of my finger with a rock (gardening accident). Worst pain Ever .. the nearest AnE doctor was out on call so I had to endure without morphine for an eternity! They gave me two paracetamol Ffs!
I remember thinking there was someone nearby moaning, then kept realising it was me!
Natural childbirth with no painkillers is close second for pain and intensity ..
but I kinda enjoyed that x |
