Oh god no. I know I'm in a minority on this but I love christmas and the entire build-up to it. I'm planning on putting my decorations up this weekend.
It's a dreary bleak world in November, why begrudge a little glitter and some fairy lights, a few simple happy songs and a bit of cheer and goodwill?
If it makes me smile one single solitary time then it's a smile I wouldn't have otherwise had. Bring it on I say, and pass me a mince pie. |

It used to be the 12th of December in the past until 5th of Jan, no town, shop or home put Christmas decs up / on before or after those dates and it all worked perfectly well.
It's possibly because we've become such a consumer society and some think tank came up with the idea that if shops and businesses made it feel like the festive season sooner, the people would spend more and profits would increase.
Personally, I'd return to the trade twelve days, and no, I'm not religious, neither of us are, but there seemed to be more build up and excitement when the 12 days were observed , if you will.
However, if celebrating Christmas in the first week of November brings joy, who are we to deny anyone that?
The earliest Christmas decs I -hubby saw - was at Wolverhampton in late October in the eighties.
I blame Roy Wood, he wanted it to be Christmas everyday! |

Netherlands / Merseyside |
A shop here in the south of the Netherlands had a tree up by the 31st October!
Then again, the Dutch are not big 9n celebrating Christmas mas on the 25th as much as how they celebrate the arrival of Sinterklass on November 16th.
