OK girls, I want to ask how long did/ have you waited for a first or second appointment at the g.i.c? I've been told that it's 2 years, but I read that it's now 4 years. By the way, I had my first appointment in October 2018. It would be good to find out what the general amount of time is for an appointment. |

Hi loreal. I'm out of touch with what the current waiting times are, but two to four years sounds pretty realistic. When friends of mine were going through about five years ago, it was then 1 to 2 years, and I can't imagine that the list has got any shorter.
Though someone fairly recently was telling me that leeds gic waiting times are not too bad, maybe 12 months.
Time for the whole process, from referral by your gp, through getting hormones on first or second consultation, through surgery waiting list, to finally getting gender surgery? Maybe five years? Less if you are lucky.
I hope that some of the other girls on here will be able to contradict me and say that it could happen quicker for you.
Hugs, Polly xx |
