PH = Peter Hammill
One of the greatest and most prolific british singer/songwriters that most people have never heard of.
Started in 1969 with the band Van der Graaf Generator, with whom he has made maybe a dozen studio albums and same again live albums, through a series of breakups and reunions over the last 50 years.
Over the same period has made 40 solo studio albums, and a dozen or more solo live albums. Also guested on albums by people such as Peter Gabriel, Robert Fripp, Str@nglers, David Thomas, PFM, Le Orme.
His album Nadir's Big Chance (1975) is acknowledged by John Lydon to be a major influence and inspiration for the sound of the Sex Pistols...
Possibly of interest to those mentioning litmus paper above, Peter Hammill's 8th solo album was called pH7....
PH, and VdGG, are still touring annually. |
