Not being from the UK, I have to say that I find Northerners in general can be a bit overwhelming. Lovely friendly people, but a little brash on occasion. Southerners can be a bit more aloof and still very friendly when an effort is made on either side, but I actually prefer that. Other than that, I think North, Middle and South people are more similar than you think. Definitely in my top 5 favourite peoples of the world |

"Us barbarians from up in't frozen north are definitely better oh and Liverpool doesn't count as north to us Yorkshire folk
Oh great. Now we've got east versus west. Facepalm "
Well if we're getting down to the nitty gritty, East Yorkshire is definitely better than south and west Yorkshire, but as I now live in North Yorkshire I kinda like that part too |

Gonna chuck my vote in for the sexy south! But the hubby is from the Midlands and what I still say as 'up north', mainly to wind him up and cos it's past Watford Gap! But gonna say that we've enjoyed partying all over England! But, why is it almost always colder up north? |

I'm a proud Northerner but I also have quite a bit of family down south and I think truth be told both have their pros and their cons.
Northerner's are only really friendlier in the sense that they're quicker to strike up a bit of small talk and have a natter to strangers.
Had plenty of nights out down south and had a good time when I have got chatting to folk.
As to the Midlands, I know they are often overlooked in this debate but I'd like to add that they're generally the happy medium in my experience. |

So if I was born and raised in the Manchester area but have been living in Newcastle for the past decade... was I southern before and now I’m northern? Or am I just more northern now? Confused .... |
