Hopefully Mr Tea Monkey won't mind me borrowing his thread and turning it on its head.
Being single can suck sometimes, but it also has massive positives too.
I get to decide where I go on holiday without having to compromise. I love it!
What do you love about single life?

Lot's of things.
I don't have to watch crap on tv.
I can work late with no dramas.
If I'm skint I don't go out, whereas in the past I've had to live beyond my means to please others.
I get to spend more time with my parents.
I don't have to get dragged around the shops shoe shopping.
This could be a never ending list..... |

"No need to share my chocolate.
As valid a reason for being single as i've ever heard
I’m not single and I *never* share chocolate "
Chocolate triggers strong feelings of possessiveness in many a person I see |

Not having to deal with snoring, nagging and grumpiness. Not having to adjust the driver's seat in the car. Not being made to feel guilty for having a nap when I'm knackered even when there's housework to do |

Not having domestic drudgery is one of my main ones.
Talking about what's for dinner and having to do someone elses laundry.
Having to watch sports or watch anything I dont want to watch!
I don't like sharing a bed to sleep - especially when there's snoring or mouth breathing or fidgeting
Having to put up with someone elses family!
Having someone else dictate what to spend money on.
I could go on
I think its easier to say what I miss about being in a couple - the list is short.

They do what they want to do,
Say what they want to say,
Live how they want to live,
Play how they want to play,
Kiss and they fuck their friends,

When I think back to my last relationship, the only thing that I really used to dislike was him taking his moods out on me whilst being perfectly pleasant with everyone else.
I always had freedom, no need for justification of anything, and was able to do as I wanted - as was he, and we were together for 16 years so it must have worked.
I can see that not having these things would be horrid though, I definitely couldn't live like that.
So in answer to your question OP, it's not being beholden to someone else's mood swings. |

God I love being single.
I'm a terrible sleeper, I have months of hideous insomnia and I love the fact that I can read in bed or get up and do stuff at 3am without anyone moaning that I've woken them up.
I love solo holidays, particularly city breaks where I can be 100% selfish, go wherever I want and do whatever I want to on my own timetable without compromise. Solo travel is a huge joy in my life.
I love that when work need me to travel I don't have to clear it with anyone.
I love that I put something down in my flat and I know it will be right there, exactly where I left it. The only mess I need to clean is my own.
I love that I can go and spend my money on whatever the hell I feel like without having to justify or hide things. "This, new? No, I've had it years". Bugger that.
I love that I can spend as much time as I want with friends male and female without any suspicion that I'm actually having a fling with them.
I had cancer years ago and I loved the fact that when I felt like shit I didn't have to put any sort of a brave face on it, I could be as shitty as I wanted at home without worrying how my fella was coping with it or that I was making him feel worse.
Most of all I love not owing anyone an explanation for anything. I'm in no rush to give that up. |

"Personally the silence every night "
The same here.
I love quiet in the evenings and not being required to make conversation.
Also sleeping when I want with nobody commenting on it |

I've never been fully alone, (single but without children) but when I was a single parent, I enjoyed quiet evenings of watching a film uninterrupted with guilt free snacks |

I'm not single and go on holiday on my own and with friends.
My other half has too many restrictions on where he won't go...life is too short so off I trot.

"There is always a cool spot to move to in my bed.
All the mess is mine and I can live with that.
The toilet seat is set the way I want it."
Other people's mess, especially in your space is distressing! |

I want to add sleeping on my own. Had to share my bed recently, thought it would be nice to not have silence during the night....
How wrong was I.... They talked in their sleep, more just muttering, flinging their arms around. They slept great, I didn't.
So, I love not sharing my bed |

Being able to watch a movie I've never seen without constantly being asked questions.
Questions like "Who's that guy?", "Why did that happen?", "Isn't he on the good team?" or, the most heinous of all... "Isn't she in that other movie I saw that time with what's his face in it?"

Everything, I don't need to compromise on anything. I have no intention of being in a relationship again. I don't feel lonely because I love my own company - a lot. If I want sex then fab is available. It's a win win |

Same here. I HATE bed sharing, it literally gives me anxiety
I was married for 15 years and never got used to it. It will never happen again! |
