As it’s coming to an end, how has 2019 been for you?

It’s been a bad one for us with lots of loss in the family but fingers crossed next year will be better.

One we won’t look back upon with fond memories.

Sorry for your losses

For me it’s been a stressful one and looking forward to the end of the year and shedding the biggest one.

On the plus I’ve met some great new people and made a couple of true friends.

I’m ready for 2020 and see where it leads

Oh my, I could of written this myself. It's been one of extremes. I lost my father-in-law a few months ago, 5 weeks before I married his daughter. You can imagine the mixed emotions at the wedding, as he should of been next to her.

Also lost a fantastic neighbour and fellow biker.

It's one I shall remember, for good and bad.

A bit of a conclusion, like a final episode, on a couple of aspects with great personal change. I'm in a good place with lots of ideas and wishes ahead to enjoy, life is always a scary bitch but when you're still breathing at the end of each day it can be so rewarding

I'm usually positive in these types of threads. Even though events have been nowhere near as bad as the OP's it's been the worst and most stressful year I've had in a while.

Work, family and financial issues have been difficult. My best moment is England winning the Cricket World Cup , not much else to celebrate I'm afraid.

I will do my best to make sure 2020 is much better.

Bearing in mind the posts above, I feel almost guilty saying this - I've had a fantastic year, apart from I'm really missing home and cats. I've done good business in many countries, bought a new house and gave away my youngest sister at her wedding to a really nice guy.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Sorry for your losses, OP.

On the whole, this year has been a good one in many ways.

My work has been rewarding this year. The teenagers have been fantastic fun. My brain has been mostly good and my physical health has settled to a steady state for now. I finally managed to make it to the MLS. I even managed to have sex seven times this year.

The year isn't over but I'm hopeful that I will end it with a bang.

Sorry for your loss OP, that was our 2018 with H losing both parents within seven months.

This year though, well we finally moved to Wales & ten months later still look out of our windows at the valley below & pinch ourselves to ensure it is real..

Less stress, less debt & more work for me here than back in Essex so 2019 so far has been ace!

Sorry for your losses OP.

It's been a mixed one for me, I lost a dear close friend towards the end of 2018 and my dad at the start of the year. What should have been an exciting wedding planning time was a bit... because of it.

I've met some truly incredible people that I'm so pleased to have as good friends. They've supported me and made me laugh and been there when I've cried and just been fucking epic. I've found my confidence in my career and I'm working towards something I didn't think I could achieve so young. It's so nice to be good at it and unashamedly so. I'm beginning to rediscover my sexuality after a less than pleasant experience and also finding my voice and expressing when I'm unhappy or when something doesn't sit right with me. And I love me most of the time.

So really the people have made it for me this year. Thank you if you're one of them. x

As in the crying thread.

My mother is at peace after a horrendous time with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

I met a Brother I hadn’t seen for 20 years and we have reconnected.

My Brother brought a nephew into this world against all the odds.

I inherited a shedload of cash and I’m going to spend a month away in the sun to break up the winter.

All in all a mixed bag but I fed the positives out weight the negatives

It's been a bit shit if honest.

One struggle after another .

Lost my mum.

Had issues with my health and quite a scare.

Had difficulties at work.

Been broken into and burgled twice.

And if all that wasn't enough I've my heart broken repeatedly by the same person .

However in all of that I know I'm lucky. I have my wonderful son's who continue to amaze, inspire and make me proud every day.

And we are ending the year with a holiday to the Dominican Republic.

Here's hoping 2020 is easier and the happiest year yet for us all. Xx

Thinking of you Mrs M x

It’s been a great year here in fab land, private life remains pretty unchanged, but I’m happy with that. I’ve just penned a note I’m sending to say ‘Thank you’ for the good times, to a very dear friend who’s gone vanilla. We remain the best of friends but no longer in the bedroom... I’m sad for me but I wanted to close that door by denoting what a great time I’ve had with him and wishing him well. He’s one in a million!

Life is good, just a tad quiet at present!

My youngest son is getting the help he needs and has come on so much in School and being discharged from SALT was a massive accomplishment for him, it makes my heart sing. My eldest is growing so much I fear he may be taller than me by the age of 10

On a personal level I still have my mum, I briefly dabbled with dating in the Summer and met a man who restored my faith in men, albeit we weren’t destined to be together long, he has renewed my hope in romance. I’ve also started studying again, which has been a bit daunting but so far so good.

Have to say the latter part of 2018 to date has been overall, a tad on the shite side. It’s been a challenge at times to stay positive & focused on a daily basis.

I’m hoping 2020 onwards brings more joy!

"As it’s coming to an end, how has 2019 been for you?

It’s been a bad one for us with lots of loss in the family but fingers crossed next year will be better.

One we won’t look back upon with fond memories.

Sorry for your loss. So I looked after my brothers wife with terminal cancer, we lost her 2 months ago....

This happened to my cousins wife.

She was 28 and left her husband and tiny daughter behind.

She is sorely missed "

So sorry, far too young...

Sorry for your losses. And yes hope 2020 is better for you. Have lost loved ones in the past and its difficult but I know it's a cliche but time is a great healer but only if its your time dont let anyone rush you in the grieving or remembering process ,but I found it does make you appreciate the ones around you more x

I've also suffered losses like most of us have or will do but this year, 2019, its also a year I lost my job that I had had for 23 years. But has also been a real coming out for me year as a trans girl. Its a year that will live in my memory forever for lots of reasons xx

The craziest, busiest, most stressful but overall best year so far.

My daughter came a little early so we had her at the end of December, we’ve moved out of our first house and pulled out the rewards for buying something to do up and sell on.

Just a bit of a shit situation living out of suitcases with family while we wait for the new house to complete.

Big big plans for the new place, can’t wait to see what 2020 brings!

2019 has been by far my best year in a very long time. Left my old life behind in Norfolk, moved to North Yorkshire and met the man who is very quickly making me forget all the troubles of my past, to the point that I used to have to take my anxiety meds every day just to feel normal yet I haven't touched them for over 6 months now. I can't remember ever being this relaxed or happy before

The right place

The last year has been one of the best, mainly due to getting to know a wonderful woman from here. I have loved every minute we spent together. There is a chance that might come to an end, which while I will be sad, I will be incredibly thankful for.

It's been good. I mean the end of 2018 was fucking horrific thanks to mental health issues which does mean that this year had quite a low benchmark but even so it's been good. But I'm the least crazy I've been for a long time, those things that normal people do like going out, socialising I'm doing again. I've been abroad 3 times, ran lots, seen some great gigs? got my fucked eye fixed so lots of good things. Most of all I've realised I've got a partner who wants to help me rather than punish me when I fuck up and that's pretty ace.

For those who've had shit years just remember it wont last and good times do come back

2019 has been utter shite for me. My health has been very worrying, my Special Aunt died, my beautiful dog died, pipes burst and caused flooding at home, my sewer blocked, the oven blew up, both cars broke down, I fell off my scooter and hurt my shoulder and my Fab life has been pretty awful.

Things can only get better.....

"It's been a year of nothing.

I achieved nothing.

Nothing changed.

Nothing happened.

Yawn

But it didn’t get worse so that’s good...."

Yes you're right

When I came back to my home town permanently in 2012 there has been nothing but heartache - my mum, sister and my niece passed away.

I think a bit of nothing instead of constant troubles is better x

well I was hoping as I hit my 40s at the end of 2018, that this would be a turning year and things would start to look up, but it has been as dreadful as the past 5 years..

so 2020 really can't be much worse.. or probably better...

Chams or Socials

I can honestly say 2019 has been a great year for me/us - our best together as we started it as a married couple of 4 days.

After 3 years of doom & gloom it was very much needed.

Looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings

Emotionally/psychologically yes. However, physically no. This year my immune system has taken a huge hit with two potentially fatal infections. A severe brain infection early in the year, and a recent infection that plonked me on the sepsis pathway. My stamina is very poor at present but hopeful that in 2020 I'll make great leaps and bounds, and resume my degree.

Having being rushed back into hospital with Sepsis myself last year, I can 100% agree with you on that.

Strange how they arent allowed to call it MRSA any longer without the risk of the trust being fined

The bacterium Staph A resistant to meticillin is a particular strain of bacteria (mrsa) and is usually a local infection (such as a wound) whereas sepsis can be caused by various bacteria that become systemic and present with certain symptoms.

I should add that mrsa can lead to sepsis, it's just that the two are not synonymous.

I’m heartfelt sorry for others troubles.

Life eh ?

I’ve had my fair share of shitty years.

Abuse, bereavements, lies, letdowns, divorce, mistakes.... But this year has been different. My best in a long time.

A new home.

A new job.

New friends.

Continued admiration for my beautiful daughter.

Improvements in my social life and finally..... I’m happy. Content. More confident.
