Anyone else's pet scared?
My dog has been fine every year except this one. Poor girl is panting, off her food and been sick.
I feel so sorry for the animals at this time of year |

We have to stand outside with ours to show them it's ok, I don't think they are scared but they get a bit wound up and somehow think we are deaf and don't notice that people are setting small explosives charges off so want to leg us know... |

None of our "working" breeds have ever worried about fireworks. My last and current rottie... both terrified. She's up howling at the window every 10mins just now.
The lhasa is only barking as he likes the sound of his own voice.. the noise doesnt actually worry him |

"It is odd sometimes how some can be unaffected and others are
Do you think they may sense their owner's subconscious anxiety over it?"
Not really all that odd. They are individuals with their own personalities.
A few breeds instinctually are fine with loud bangs like gundogs. Though not all gun dogs take to loud bangs either.
Some breeds have much more sensitive hearing, some sense the vibrations caused by the bang, some the smell.
I have one who could not give the slightest fuck about them, unless it wakes him up.
The other, terrified and shaking. |

In our village we have a Facebook page and folk give fair warning. |

Our puppy is 9 months so the first time hearing fireworks. Thankfully the gundog part of her is more dominant and she’s indifferent to the noise. My previous dog was petrified it was awful to watch |

No, luckily my boy doesn't seem to care most of the time. It's really pissing me off today though hearing them constantly go off. It's dirturbing my little one who's trying to sleep. 1am last night there was huge bangs for about 30 minutes. I wish they'd just keep them for display only on the 5th November |

What is a Rottie if not a working breed? They are cattle drovers.
I've worked with a lot of them and never have I met one that was truly scared. They can be easily misunderstood due to their intelligence. That's generally down to the handler being a little bit slow, not the dog.

Current rottie is also scared of cows... doubt she'd have been much use as a drover... our last 4, along with the other working breeds were fine... |

Mine is prescribed meds for fireworks every year and even now as I look at her she is partially sedated but has that 1000 yard stare.
I hate this time of year |
