Got the usual day nurse and boots cough medicine, lemsip etc, but nothing is taking the edge off this so do any of you have any home remedies or any suggestions for other stuff from the chemist?
I’m not sure how much longer I can lay about feeling sorry for myself and how many more times I can sneeze lol x |

There is nothing you can do but wait it out unfortunately
Painkillers and fluids make it less debilitating but nothing makes it go away.
Get a little fresh air and lots of sleep x |

This is my 2nd week in. I found that honey helps, my humidifier, vicks, and the occasional bout of crying while driving to work or to go buy more Kleenex. |

Going to do the hot steamy bath thing in a bit. Once I drag myself out of this bed
Vicks on my chest has certainly helped me get to sleep, also found it keeps wandering hands away lol

"Hot bath followed by a cold shower then repeat.. It does help. Maybe rubbing some Vicks on your chest."
All of that sounds great other than the cold shower bit lol |

Vicks on the souls of your feet is perfect for a cough if you have one too, also feels lovely when you feel like crap - stimulates the nerves and spine |

Don’t buy night nurse, lemsips, beechams etc, they are a complete rip off. Take paracetamol and ibuprofen which can be taken together and do the same thing for a fraction of the price.
Drink plenty of fluids and if you can spend a few minutes in a sauna as the steam will really help. Then drink more fluid! |

Vitamin C, tonnes of water, and most importantly get yourself a big chunk of ginger root.
Whack it through a grater, whack it in a jug with some lemon slices and honey. Cover with hot water, let it steep.
A few jugs of that, your immune system will be lifting buses. |

Nose irrigation for stuffed nose.
Turmeric added to warm milk.
And some of the above too. I always drink lots of warm fluids.
Rest and sleep - best medicines.. |

If you have a sore throat gargle with diluted TCP. Make sure you dilute it properly or your mouth will BURN!
Also, Vapor Rub on thensoles of tour feet with socks on helps.
Hot Toddy before bed (hot milk, good glug of whiskey and a teaspoon of honey, if you like honey) - makes you sweat.
And plenty of rest.

A hot toddy.
Make a lemsip in a mug with half hot boiled water and a good measure of whiskey. Add a little orange juice and some honey. Stir then drink at bedtime whilst it's hot.
Mr always makes me them when I have a cold.

Day 2 and I want to chop my head off as it hurts so much.
I have a searing pain behind my left eye, blocked nose, throat like sandpaper and hot and cold every so often! deep joy
1. Covonia (non drowsy) worked wonders when I couldn't stop coughing at 4am.
2. Just chopped some garlic and ginger root, boiled it, then sweetened it with honey and drank it
3. Vitamin c (efferescent) with a zinc tablet
4. loads of water or wine, I'm not fussed. But you can't have a night nurse if you've been drinking the wine
Only one of us is coming out alive and this cold/flu/whatever is seriously going to die soon.......grrrrr
Finish off by wrapping in a blanket, sitting on the sofa watching Girls trip of First wives club for the 50th time |
