As the evenings have drawn in...
It's dark outside, but it's dark inside too, especially upstairs away from the light and warmth of the fire and the TV. You sit alone downstairs. Above the sound of the telly a creak is heard. You carry on watching the program and take a sip from your glass...another creak, then a tumble. Something has fallen or moved. But what?
Curious, you raise from your chair and go to the bottom of the stairs. Placing your foot upon the bottom step you hear a rustling sound. Something is moving about. Something has stirred. You thought you were alone.
"Hello?" you shout, "Anyone there?". There is no reply.
You take another step and you feel your heart beat. It's somewhat colder on the stair. Stepping back you turn and fumble for the light... Kching! The bulb blows. Then as you turn around.. atop the staircase encased in an unearthly glow is...is... an apparition. It is of the thing you have dreaded the most.. and it has a message solely for you..
... what is your unearthly companion..?
