A Telephone interview?
I am scheduled for one this afternonn and i am so nervous as i have never had one before. It is also for a job i have never done before which again makes me more nervous.
I am currently looking at their website so i know alot about the company.
Have you any tips for a successful telephone interview?
Thanks in advance,

Thank you both, if i am successful then it moves onto 'in person' interviews.
Thank you again xx |

as others have said,,just be yourself, and as its a phone interview,,if you need it,id suggest a small glass of wine to calm the nerves,,
i have done phone interviews and one person told me before,,count to 3 before you answer any questions they may ask you,,be at the pc looking at their web page is also a good idea |

I know how you feel and also write down some questions to ask them so that you dont start stuttering a little cause you just know they will ask the question of "is there anything you want to ask or something"? and in the end they might have told you about the company and what it does, but go for a question that might be unique and different in a way, ie dont ask about wages, holidays even if tempted but if they do let you know themselves within the telephone interview.
But yeah having questions at hand to say are always a good thing |

You have the advantage of wearing what makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. You can have written down in front of you the points you want to get across about yourself (you're selling yourself after all).
First impressions are good but it's how you end the interview that is remembered most so don't be afraid to go back over something you think you may not have expressed as well as you could.
Deep breaths and smile (it will effect your tone)
All the best |

Best to try and avoid "errrr" or "ummm" too much. As previous post short silences are ok but try and avoid being like Tony Blair on one of his speeches "yawn".
Dont be affraid to ask lots of questions too if you feel the need, it shows you are interactive and agood team player.
Be friendly but dont try too hard to be as it comes across as being false. Above all be yourself, well maybe not completely by mentioning you got tips from Fabswingers!
Good luck to you and remember they will be lucky to have you! |

I had one quite recently for a job I had never done before. Be calm pause and think about your answer, also be honest and open with them. it got me through to the final 6 interviews. I didn't get the job but still felt good about it |

Don't forget to have the tv on really loud and shout every so often "will you shut up I'm on the phoooone"
If you feel youre loosing control of the interview theres my personal favourite "could you you just hold for a moment, I need to wipe" pause .... flush, wash your hands and then say "sorry, where were we?" |

you are at an advantage with a phone interview because they cannot see you.
you an wear something comfortabel, instead of being dressed up
and you can do what relaxes you, even if that is slowly stroking your private area.
whatever puts you at ease, do it, they cant stop you, as long as you are listening and attentive no one will know, and you will come across as a confident, relaxed erson that would be a great addition to the company |

Just be prepared, I had one recently and all was going really well until they asked me a question related to the job in sales that I could find no logical answer for.
End result, didnt get a second interview and I was recommended by a friend too! |
