I paid a young couples parking charge for them recently - the machine wouldn't take their card, their baby was crying, and it was raining, so I just leant over and tapped my card on the reader to pay. It was a few quid, but seeing the relief on their faces was priceless. |

I did that in tescos. An elderly lady had realised she’d forgotten her purse and was crying. So I just tapped my card on the machine for her. Her face made it so worth it |

A girl I know who was a parent where I worked felt like she was failing as a mum after having a hard start to the day with her sons. I made her a little card telling her how brilliant she was and just because that day was hard didn't mean every day had to be like that.
Gave her a face mask, hot chocolate and a magazine and told her to make sure she took time for herself that night |

"Bought flight tickets to South Africa so a friend and her husband could see his mum before she passed
Wow "
I’ve always said money is immaterial. As long as I have enough to keep the roof over our heads and feed my lad, wherever I can help I will, rather than see people is distress |

"What's the nicest thing you've done op? "
I often go in to shops and buy food and hot coffee for the homeless around my area.
I always try and treat people the best I can anyway, I always picture my beloved mum or dad as the person I’m looking after |

Humanise them. In other words, I look at people as if they're my loved ones... because they're somebody's loved ones. It changes my entire attitude, making me feel quite loving towards total strangers. It's a good way to reduce anger and hostility towards people in all types of situations, especially on the road. |

An ex copper I used to work with, bought a coffee for at least one homeless person every time we went for a Costa. He knew a few of them and their back stories of why they ended up on the street. As an ex squaddie it certainly upset me that a lot had served in the forces including one who told me he was in the same Regiment as me.
So I try to show that same empathy as my mate, I'm not as consistent as he is, but I will put in the effort, especially if he or she is ex services |

Reading some of these properly makes me teary.
Kindness and empathy costs nothing, neither does time. I always try to be kind. Always help when I can
I was parking the car in Morrisons and noticed the lady parked next to me crying, I hate seeing people cry, it emotionally hurts me to see it.
I gently asked if she wanted company and was there anything I could do! It was like a floodgate, she had been to a counselling session and was adhusting her thoughts.
I just sat and listened to her talk about her history, ended up sat for an hour, but she needed that, it was like her emotions were her physical thoughts manifesting. I hugged her, she told me she hadn't eaten so I insisted she come with me and let me buy her food, so we sat in the cafe. I left her smiling, end game acheived.
Drove past a young lady standing next to her car which had hazard lights on.
I pulled over and asked if she was ok, she said her car had run out of petrol and she couldn't get hold of anyone to help. She had her baby in the car
I lived a few minutes away, and knew I had a jerry can so went and sorted her petrol out.
Bought a guys lunch once as he realised he had forgotten his wallet at checkout, contactless is just so easy to use nowadays |
