Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
before switching on the heating?
I don't put the heating on until November, and only then if the temperature has dropped to 10 degrees or lower.
I'm being seriously tested this evening - I may need to wear gloves to keep typing.

I can't stand being cold. The heating goes on whenever I feel cold, even if it was summertime. I don't wait for a certain time. Ill also add halogen heaters if I need extra for the chill to go off. |

I live in a block of flats and I'm tight, so I rely on the other flats to heat mine I can always put a jumper on if it gets super cold, but it rarely does. |

"It's been on for a while. I get cold when I have a low blood pressure or tired. Brrr.
Good point! My blood pressure has been low and I am exhausted.
"
Glad to be of some help and may you feel better soon. |

"I caved today. I was so cold and was working from home. I couldn’t stand it a minute longer. Brrrrr"
I've got a range of things to put on for working from home. My office is chilly most of the year.
You are further north than I am. Well done for holding on for so long.

I tend to blast it on to take the edge off the cold at this time of year but it doesn't stay on.
Wish my colleagues had the same idea at work, all heating on full already and its roasting. In a couple of months they'll be moaning how cold it is |

"Since being put on blood thinners 4 years ago I feel the cold more so I put it on at the beginning of the month."
That makes sense. Thin and feeling chilly is preferable to thick and sticky but warm.

That's my view. If you get too used to it being hot all the time then you really feel it when it's not on.

"Every year I say we wont turn the heating on before November but we rarely manage it. It was zero degrees this morning!!
"
Fair enough - you're oop north!
I never switch mine on in the morning. I see it as an incentive to go to work to get warm. It's not so great when I'm working from home.

London is a heat island. My place is old and is usually colder inside than the outside temperature during spring and autumn.

"I haven’t had mine on yet. I haven’t felt cold.
Are you doing that northern thing and wandering around without a coat?
I haven’t had a jacket or coat on yet "
I should have guessed. I wore a down jacket yesterday and a light winter coat today.

I heat."
I wouldn't say I love the heat at all, my house is simply terrible at keeping warm. Draughty and horrible. Boooooo

We are in Scotland too but had not yet put our heating on. But since we got back from Barcelona just over a week ago we've had to put it on every day.
Took us a while to acclimatise to this weather...we had to blast the heating at 23-24deg to get the house to stop feeling like a fridge. Normally 21 is enough! |

I've got central heating so I don't have to feel cold. I don't understand the thought process that people have over this. If I'm cold I'll heat the house. |

Jayne is a soft English southener, so we have had it on for a few days now, but its set to only come on 3 times in the day.
Was quite fresh here at minus 2 this morning, sc***ing (apparently its a banned word???) ice off the windscreen. |

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe |
My heating is off. Saying that, I spend most week nights in a hotel somewhere, but am home at the weekends. This weekend I put on a thermal jumper and was lovely and toasty, and when it gets really chilly I light the fire.
I'm in a hotel in London right now and the heating in the room is off. |

Each to their own. It's a light-hearted thread seeing what others do.
I didn't have central heating for about 15 years and I've had it for about 15 years now. It started out not wanting to get too used to expecting it and then it was about reducing my impact on the planet.

"I have mine on when its cold. If im cold in August it will go on in august. I used to live in a house that was so cold had icicles inside the house and i vowed never to be cold again"
Our first flat was so poorly insulated, in winter there used to be ice on the inside of the bedroom window! Mind you, that was 33 years ago! |

My sister and I used to share a flat where there was ice on the inside of the windows. The kitchen extension to the old Victorian house was so ramshackle the floor would get a slick of ice on really cold nights.

As soon as I feel cold I put it on.
There are no rules.
I grew up in a freezing house before central heating.
I remember the metal window frames having gaps and letting freezing air in so the insides of the windows in my bedroom were icy
You could see your breath all over the house other than the front room where we had a gas fire.

Other than being unable to leave a room before you’ve said right. Is there anything more British than the how cold does it get before you put the heating on debate |

I've worked on building sites and been a biker for the majority of my life. If I find it cold, then I may pop the convection heater on behind ma chair for about half an hour, but I generally just stick a blanket over ma legs until I can see frost on the hospital roof just over the way from me |

I started putting it on four or so weeks ago in short bursts. It's on most nights now from 6pm until 11 or so. Our house gets very cold and I don't want to wrap my little one up in loads of layers! I'd rather the house just be warm. |

It was middle of summer lovely, but felt like the wood burner was on. HOT HOT HOT. "

Caved in a week ago, but it’s not on all the time, 1st thing in the morning and then in the evening if it’s really chilly.
I dislike an overly warm / stuffy environment! |

So this evening, I'm sat here & starting to feel chilly
Fluffy dressing gown, fleecey blanket, chihuahua Cuddles.. Not doing it.
I actually considers putting the heating on.
Then realised my back door was wide open
Such a twat
In my defense, its a new door. I keep forgetting have to click the handle when you close it |

You wouldn't have noticed the back door chill with a bigger dog. |
