Personally I think it would take a very petty person to grass up someone for using a hosepipe, but there are some busy bodies around that will rattle cages just for the sake of entertainment. |

"it depends what they're using it for !
Sounds like there will be a whole lot of colonic irrigationalists looking for new jobs this summer then"
thats what I was thinking if someone was on their front lawn with the hose up their arse I think I would report them |

no, if someone is metered for their water why the hell should they not be allowed to use it as they see fit.. be that in a bucket or through a damned hosepipe! really gets my goat that they think they can tell people how they can dispense their water....
i have 2 cars and 4 bikes ( and occasionally 1 track bike) that need cleaning in my house and you just cant get them rinsed properly with buckets...
also in 3 months time i will have to refill my hot tub again...
and i'll be damned if im not using a hosepipe to fill that up! if they wanna fine me ill switch to my outdoor tap and a drain pipe |

We've all been used to turning the tap on and using as much water as we like. Don't think you'd have to 'grass' up a neighbour who is using a hosepipe ...... their bright green lawn will give them away.
But if it's the difference between a dirty car or crops being produced - I'd choose to drive a dirty car. |

hers a thought,well two.
one - if you want a clean car or nice lawn , install a water butt only cost few quid
two- im up in scotland and we got tons of water , now this may annoy some people but if we can build pipes from up here to take oil why can we do same to take water to farms down south , ok it may cost , but at least the crops will be ours, on our markets and not imported |

Have already got a water butt but it's only any good in the summer when we get enough rain to refill it.

"They Water companies like it when we have a water shortage , they can then put the prices up ... "
We aren't due a hosepipe ban here in the South West (yet). My water bill landed on the mat last week - a bargain at £933 on a Band E property! When I rang the company to ask whether they thought I was sh*tting gold bricks, I was advised that a water meter was the way to go.
So one water meter ordered. What was interesting was the fact that if they can't fit a water meter, then they will make a capped charge at £750. Nice of them to advise the customers of this.
