I vote British Summer Time. All the other times should go back to where they came from!

The EU have actually been proposing getting rid of the bi-annual time change, which coukd make things interesting at the border in Ireland.

Can you imagine the inconvenience to someone who crosses the Irish border regularly, even several times a day when the UK will be out of sync with the EU

Coventry

BST+1 all year round.

That way it gets light near 6 in the summer and dark at 5:30 in the winter.

Much more civilised.

It's very likely the UK will follow suit. So not to be out of sync with Ireland.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

GMT all year. BST in the autumn/winter means the mornings are too dark and that's hard for us SAD bastards.

Isn't the whole clock change thing down to Coldplay's granddad?

Are dark mornings worse than dark evenings for SAD bastards? I don't have SAD, but I really don't like changing the clocks. I'd rather have the light in the evening.

The Martins have a lot to answer for.

Having the light in the morning helps me wake up and no feel like I'm drowning in a grey soup. Losing the light in the evening isn't great either, but if you can't get up it may as well be dark all day.

Why can't it just be light in a morning and light in the evening like in summer.

"Why can't it just be light in a morning and light in the evening like in summer. "

I think it has something to do with our location on the planet and being seasonal.

We get lovely long sunrises and sunsets. At the equator it's just light and then dark.

It was a lovely sunset tonight. I would have preferred it at 9pm though.

Ruislip

I think switching from GMT occasionally or permanently is stupid.

I agree we need time zones rather that literallyccorrect time everywhere but midday for a time zone should be when the sun is highest in the sky at a chosen point of longitude for that time zone. That's what midday is - when the sun is at its highest point.

If you want it to be lighter or darker when certain activities are done, then just do those things at a time when the light is right. Don't change time itself! Change when you do things. It's the only logical way I can see.

The thought of changing from GMT really pisses me off.

Luke
