What do you think is a waste of money when buying or renting it in life and when paying taxes because I think lately Brexit is a waste of the tax payer money lately due to it taking so long to leave know?

Renting cars, renting flats/houses, branded food, (few exceptions) anything sport related, cigarettes, renting suits/kilts for weddings etc. Life in general is a rip off. We all need our little frivolities to lighten things up though.

Everyone has a different opinion on what is or isn't wasteful in terms of renting/buying etc.

One person's wasteful is anothers pocket change in comparison.

I don't judge, if people want to spend huge amounts of money on renting flash cars etc. Then let them. As long as all other priorities are taken care of like feeding and clothing kids properly.

I do have one particular thing I spend money on, to some it's wasteful, I do it because i like it.

As for tax, I pay as little tax as possible using every available legal loophole, and still pay obscene amounts.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

After owning houses for over 30 years I now rent. There are several reasons for this.

1. I had been made redundant four times within a 10 year period, and the older I get, the harder it is to find work

2. If I get made redundant again I am not tied to living in this area, I can up-sticks and move anywhere in the country

3. Both my kids are doing very well for themselves so don't need my money when I'm gone, so I'm enjoying it instead

4. I couldn't afford to live where I do if I had to buy it. I live in part of a country mansion and my flat has been valued at well over £300,000, yet I pay less than £500 per month rent, and in the 5 years I have been here the landlord has never increased the rent

5. If something falls off, I phone the letting agent and someone comes around to put it back on again

Well said Mr monkey, we’re very much live and let live, let people do and spend on what makes them happy.

F here was called a spoilt bitch by some middle aged gentleman while getting out of her car the other day. The car that she paid for. Nothing happened other than her getting out of the car in his presence. World would be a lot better if we all stopped judging each other, and started having more sex.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Home ownership provides some security of tenure but it's the wrong choice for some. I don't get why people only talk about the price tag at purchase and not the interest payments, investment in refurbishment or just upkeep, usually with additional interest payments.

Rates are low now but some of us remember double figures.

Other countries operate sustainable, affordable rental models.

I waste money on things like hotel rooms. I'm there for a short time but I'd rather have nice sheets and a decent shower than just a clean bed.

Near Wells

I don't mind spending money on things I like or enjoy or if I'm going to get something back for it.

I hate giving money to banks, utility companies etc, so I try not to pay interest and always turn off electric and gas stuff if not needed.

I'll spend lots of money though on things I enjoy, motorbikes, trips away, clothes etc. Some people might say that's wasting money.

Hull

We spend our money on holidays rather then our house. We have travelled extensively and seen some beautifully amazing places & experiences cultures we would never here in England. As a result we have made friends all over & are invited to visit and stay on a regular basis.

We have memories & friendships that will.last a life time

We get plenty of snarky comments about travelling several times a year. We work hard - and our money our choices

Money Box just covered the 150k or so "mortgage prisoners". Before them it was those who bought deferred mortgages. Now it's those trapped by spiraling leasehold costs.

My thing is watches, I get no end of snide comments about it.

Waste of money, flash twat, a £20 watch tells the time as well as that, you can only wear one watch at a time etc.

Do I give a fuck what anyone thinks, no.

I buy them because I like them.

Saw the sub in your photo, assumed watches were your thing. They’re one of our many weaknesses too!
