Arguably one of the greteast, if not THE greatest rock band of all time. Unparalleled musicianship and somgcrafting abilities from a quartet that excelled in their repective roles.
What's your favourite Zep song and why? Please don't everyone say Stairway to Heaven or Whole lotta Love! Curious to see how many nods these last two get |

Was lucky enough to see them at Knebworth in '79, and I have all their albums on vinyl
Choosing just one track would depend on what mood I was in at the time.....so I'm gonna go for.

Dazed and confused is my favourite one as it perfectly captures the psychedelic vibes of the time and has an explosive middle section. John Bonham is a beast on the drums and that bass line! They don't make stuff like this anymore |

Oooh so many, Led Zep II takes me straight back to my wild child youth....!!
The hippie in me loves 'Battle for Evermore' and 'Goin' to California'....
'What Is and What Should Never Be' is probably the sexiest song ever written (from the raunchiest album ever made) it just makes me *feel* the ebb and flow of great sex the moment I hear that base line....
But I think that aside, the melancholic 'Ramble On' is my favourite song. |

I both love them and find them massively overrated, it's a strange paradigm!
I prefer Slow Dancer and Like I've Never Been Gone from Plant's 1st solo album to anything by Led Zeppelin.
Page has done not much of any worth since Zeppelin split up, the Unledded project and tour with Plant notwithstanding. Even when LZ were at their peak he was a better composer, arranger and producer than he was guitarist. Live, he's always been sloppy at best.
I do love All of My Love and Since I've Been Loving You though. Familiarity may have bred contempt with a lot of their other songs and I could probably do with going back and revisiting them with fresh ears. |

The solo in Heartbreaker is as sloppy as hell and that was at the beginning of Led Zeppelin's career. By the time it got to about 1975 he often couldn't put two coherent notes together live (by the time it got to Live Aid ten years later, it was embarrassing). |

The guy above saying page wasn’t much of a guitarist - FYI, he was a session musician.
When he started LZ, page was already a millionaire from playing guitar in recording sessions (late 60s).
However you got one point right - not always great live and at live aid 85, page was absolutely embarrassing. could not believe what I was seeing.
Best song? Depends, not sure if they’ve aged that well. |

Can't choose just one so I've chosen my favourite track from each album:
Led Zeppelin I - Dazed and Confused
Led Zeppelin II - Bring It On Home
Led Zeppelin III - Gallows Pole
Led Zeppelin IV - Black Dog
Houses of the Holy - The Ocean
Physical Graffiti - Kashmir
Presence - Nobody's Fault But Mine
In Through the Out Door - Best Forgotten |

"The guy above saying page wasn’t much of a guitarist - FYI, he was a session musician.
When he started LZ, page was already a millionaire from playing guitar in recording sessions (late 60s).
However you got one point right - not always great live and at live aid 85, page was absolutely embarrassing. could not believe what I was seeing.
Best song? Depends, not sure if they’ve aged that well. "
I didn't say he wasn't a good guitarist, just that he was a better composer, arranger and producer! I love Zeppelin but I'm not blinkered enough to see that what he could do on guitar in a studio, he often couldn't reproduce live (mainly because it was never just one guitar in the studio).

I'd argue that it was John Paul Jones; multi-instrumentalist, virtuoso bass player and never had an off night because he was off his tits on booze or smack (or both).
His wig in The Song Remains the Same was fucking terrible though. |

Just one Zeppelin song, are you high?
....can I have two....or three even?
Ok, what is and what should never be. It is a fantastic track, it gives you the light/shade, heavy/soft dynamic that Zeppelin were all about. Robert's vocals sore, that solo is just aces, the bassline and Bonzo's fills.....delightful.
Fecksake though, what about heartbreaker, when the levee breaks, bring it on home, going to California, so so many immense tracks |
