Comdoms dont give 100% protection from HPV but they do make it harder to pass on... And if you read the government site.. you will see it still recommends them to help stop. And sorry but i worry about other things than HPV. |

Yes I'm sure we are all aware that condom's don't protect against all and that there are risks to unprotected oral but doesn't mean that just not using a condom is the answer. You decide as an adult what your level of risk is.

To be honest I thought it was only detected through smear tests. But I have no idea how men get tested for it. I presume that’s a blood test then? Like I said before on one
If your previous threads i looked into quite a bit when my daughters were given the vaccination for it at school. I also thought it was only women who got it as the boys didn’t get the vaccination. I’ve heard that is changing and the boys will get the jab from next year. |

I did read about it being found in DNA but it was big and complicated and apparently not used to test. If you google blood test for HPV something comes up about the cancer treatment and tests .. so perhaps once your being tested or treated for something else they test but not before.

There is but it's not available at sexual health clinics nor readily available- can be paid for in private clinics.
Smear tests have changed so show if hpv is detected but obviously doesn't show if potentially detected. Apparently some of the latest research is that as much as 80% of the population carries the hpv gene. This doesn't automatically mean you will get cancer but cancer can develop from it. Testing would be in appropriate as majority would be positive and the information isn't helpful as it may not develop into anything. |
