Is it just me or did anyone else turn invisible when they reached 40?
People literally cant see me or hear me anymore.
When I was young and slim people could see me.
Now I can be standing looking at something in a shop and someone will just stop in front of me like I'm not there |

"I know the feeling. Think it's because I'm over 40 and small!!"
Yes well you're teeny tiny - people have a valid reason for not being able to see you
I'm a big fat giant with big frizzy hair! |

55 is a big cut off. Mind you, I'm not interested in people the same age as my children... Eugghhhh |

"Sam's 40 in January, but he is invisible in clubs anyway when he goes by himself apparently "
Tell Sam that he can do anything while he's invisible - if no one can see or hear him then the possibilities are endless |

"It slows down interest in some sectors but we all age and all at the same rate so why worry."
I'm not worried about interest.
Im genuinely worried for my safety - if no one can see me then I might get run over |

"I'd best enjoy my last 3 years of being visible then
Have you tried showing a bit of cleavage, I'm sure that will turn some heads "
Haha I think it's different for men.
You could pull off a silver fox look
And men seem to get more respect by the staff in shops etc than women.

Yeah, I think women are idiot girls until they're 40 or so, then invisible. Men... Get to be adults and treated with respect. |

Yup, they do that, and talk over you, cannot bear it when people do that, so rude and unnecessary |

What is that about?
I have just been reduced to tears and humiliated in a Shop by the staff
It's a long boring story I wont go into - but it would have been a different story if I was a man! |

I wish I fucking knew. And if you get angry or upset you're probably on your period or something. God forbid women sometimes have reason to get pissed off. |

But why do they do it?
Is it because when the clock strikes midnight on your 40th birthday your opinion is no longer valid?

It's nothing to do with you. Nothing personal about it at all.
It's the society of putting oneself first all the time, being told to look after no one because no one else will. The problem with that statement is, it's created a selfish society who cares little about anyone else.
This permiates though the whole of society and all that we do. We no longer believe anyone else will help.
Only leads to a disregard of others. So people generally no longer really care and don't look out for others.
So you end up with the scenario you've described. |

The silver fox transition has been underway for sometime now
Hope you're ok. |

I have been thinking the same thing. I seem to be "invisible"
I've been off sites for about a year but even after returning I'm still invisible.
Time to use a proper dating site. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I made myself invisible in my 30s so I didn't notice when others stopped seeing me.
I think it is probably worse for those who were feted for their looks when it happens.
Find your presence and others will notice.
