It's an individual thing I guess. I never send face pics to new profiles and when I do I use the auto delete after view option.

I think a lot depends on what they ask for and what impression you want to make. I often don't send pics but try to make my messages engaging. Other times it's a quick pic and an ice breaker... Horses for courses
