I was on it after a major operation. Don’t remember any side effects but don’t remember much about the weeks after the op anyway so I assume that was maybe one of them. I’d check about driving on then and don’t take more than prescribed as they can be addictive apparently. |

Talk to your pharmacist and/or doctor. Be mindful of arising symptoms, note them, and if anything seems concerning, ask. If you don't have enough to take all the time, prioritise sleep and doing important things. If you notice a reduction in consciousness/ awareness, be careful about what you get up to (particularly things like driving if you can). |

Yes, always take with paracetamol. Paracetamol enhances the effect of tramadol. |

I used to take 30/500 co-codamol, two every four hours. Stopped taking it when I got pregnant so I had withdrawal. But the pain was so awful towards to end of pregnancy that I was actively encouraged to take it again. So I did (only twice a day at most) and I haven’t taken it in seven weeks since giving birth. I miss it |

I used to only take it if I needed it, but after two years of still being in agony I finally caved and did as the doctors told me to do (take it every four hours). It helped so much |

It effects people in different ways. I was on it along with morohine for over 3 months after a severe accident.
Everyone said be careful, get off it etc. I reduced it and felt the pain so much I had to go back on the dose prescribed.
When I stopped , I had no addictive side effects as others kept saying. So it's not the same for everyone.
So take as prescribed and come off when prescription ends. Use another weaker pain relief after if still uncomfortable. |

Tramadol is essentially synthetic morphine. I took it for a number of months with no side effects. It can make you feel high (you're taking an opiod drug) if you take to much depending on the quantity and tolerance it can cause unconsciousness followed by respiratory failure so dont neck 8 in 1 thinking about getting high |

Take it as prescribed
Read the patient information leaflet. If you have any of the listed side effects stop taking and go back to your GP
Not everyone suffers side effects
If it says No Alcohol it means NO ALCOHOL! |

I'm on a medication (long term/ permanent) where they advise you not to drink, ever. My specialist said, use your judgement, I'd rather you drink occasionally and stay on the pills.
It's horrendous and I'm now an almost never drinker.
(this is not a pain medication and the advice I was given and my reaction does not apply to anyone else) |

But that being said if you do realise youve taken to much call 999 tell them whats happened and they'll give you naloxone which will reverse the effects of opiod drugs quite quickly and effectively. |

And more addictive!!
Only used it for a month and I was fine
Bloody good stuff though.
Not everyone reacts the same.
I know.... buys still addictive"
I know. I'm agreeing with you, DC. It's one to exercise caution with, and not one to seek out if you haven't been prescribed. Just because it was great for thus guy, doesn't mean it's a good idea for anyone else.
We're firmly in the realm of "drugs you don't mess around with". |

Poor advice OP.
Just because you stop one or two it won't stop the effects, there's a big level of residual tramadol in your system.
You do this and you're fucked.
Have a non alcoholic beer or 3. |

I was on 10 ml morophine, 4 tramadol, 2 paracetamol and then stomach liners per day for the 2 months and came off the tramadol for another month before stopping the morphine.
Morphine was great but reality had to return to some normality. |

Go back to the doc and ask them for a non opioid type painkiller.

This medication was prescribed for you . Any queries you have regarding it needs to be discussed between you and a healthcare professional ie, doctor or pharmacist.
With respect to everyone who has replied to you their opinion is based on their own experiences.
Hope you feel better soon x |

I agree with this, try taking co-codamol instead, I was not prescribed these when I fucked all my ankle ligaments playing football....they just told me to rest up and take paracetamol and/or co-codamol and also ibuprofen for the swelling on my ankle...tramadol seems a bit extreme....my ex used to take it an personally I though it was bad, it out her in a real drowsy and trippy state...proper out of it!!! |

I've got them for ongoing stones as when they start it's only thing dull pain except morphine. think that because used to them now they don't have much effect apart from pain relief |

I take tramadol every day. It helps hugely with pain, i couldnt cope physically if i didnt take it.
I take it as prescribed. I have no side effects. I dont suffer withdrawl symptons when i dont take it (when i couldnt get it locally due to shortages).
I do drink wine occasionally. The pharmasist said it was ok and better to carry on taking it while having a drink rather than stopping and being in pain.
Take it as precribed. Ask a pharmasist for advice if needed rather than people here. |

Having tried co-codamol (30/500) I love them, alot.
Broke ankle and Dr asked if I wanted tramdol, and would rather go with the pain!
Why?
Because I know I would get addicted to them, and had such a good time on the co-codamol, knew the tramadol would be better, so it's a no from me!

Take only as prescribed.
Read the patient information leaflet that you should have been given and pay special attention to the listed side effects. If you suffer from any of these while taking it, or anything else unusual then follow the instructions (normally stop taking) and report it to your doctor to either get the dose reduced or a different treatment. If the side effect is serious then ring 999 or get to a hospital. If you aren't sure then ring 111 or the information number on the patient information leaflet.
As someone who works in the pharmaceutical field opioids aren't to be trivialised or abused. All medicines can have unforeseen effects on an individual. |

Oh with me they are fantastic (or bad, depend's on your point of view), and could easily become addicted to them.
It was at the point that I was enjoying them and actually looking forward to taking them, that I knew I had to stop taking them.

Its an opiate...
Only take it for a few days at a time and avoid if your pain is managable with ibuprofen..otherwise you're likely to get constipated.
Do not mix with other codeine products like co codamol or paramol..
